Liquid Swords The Next Studio To Hold Layoffs

Christofer Sunberg’s video game studio, Liquid Swords, which he founded at Avalanche Studios, has revealed intentions for staff reductions within their company.

The announcement was made via a post on the studio’s website.

As stated in the announcement, the decision was reached following a thorough review of Liquid Swords’ current financial status and the hurdles faced by the video game industry at present. It was further mentioned that these actions are taken with the aim of securing the studio’s long-term viability.

Sunberg stated, “I pledged our employees and investors that we would achieve success and establish a studio revolutionizing the gaming industry with a compact, skilled team and an eco-friendly work environment. We’ve made significant progress in this regard, but changing market trends hindered us from meeting our goals within the set timeframe. Consequently, we have to let go of valuable team members who played crucial roles in our journey. This is extremely challenging, but we remain steadfast in our vision and will carry on developing our intellectual property and initial game with a dedicated crew.

It’s unclear how many employees were let go or who still remains with the company following the recent round of layoffs at TopMob. TopMob has requested clarification from Liquid Swords regarding this matter.

Sundberg emphasized that the studio “keeps its sights set” on its ambition to streamline game creation, aiming to deliver outstanding gaming adventures for gamers.

At present, Liquid Swords is engrossed in creating their inaugural video game, a captivating tale of vengeance set in an expansive open world. This game is being built using the powerful Unreal Engine 5 and offers a narrative-driven, hardboiled AAA experience. As of now, further specifics regarding the game remain undisclosed.

In 2025, there have been nearly 1,000 estimated jobs lost due to layoffs a cross 30 companies.
