Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP New Content and New Costumes in the Works

As a long-time fan of the quirky and unique world of Lollipop Chainsaw, I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear about the additional content coming our way! Having grown up on the original game, I fondly remember the adrenaline rush of hacking through zombies with Juliet Starling, her sweet and deadly chainsaw in hand. The fact that Yoshimi Yasuda and the team at Dragami Games are planning to expand this delightful universe is music to my ears.

First launched in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Lollipop Chainsaw was rejuvenated by Dragami Games with the release of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP on modern gaming systems and PCs. Not only has there been a resurgence of this series, but it appears that the studio is also working on substantial additional content for the action game.

According to Yoshimi Yasuda, the creator of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, they’ve shared plans on social media (Twitter/X) about creating substantial new content and fresh costumes for the game.

As a passionate gamer diving headfirst into the world of Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP, I’m thrilled to share that we’ve begun brainstorming and creating some massive, exciting new content! Our ultimate goal is to deliver an experience you’ll all be eager to jump into as soon as development kicks off. So stay tuned – we’ll keep you updated when the time comes!

And we will continue to add costumes, so stay tuned for new costumes!

If you’re curious, I should mention that the initial Lollipop Chainsaw game did offer downloadable content (DLC), but it was primarily focused on new costumes for our heroine Juliet, modeled after characters from four different anime series. Additionally, a special Valentine’s Edition of this game was launched in Japan and came packed with extra features like two bonus DVDs, a desktop clock, wallpapers, trailers, a Valentine’s Day comic strip, an unlock code, and more!

Originally, Lollipop Chainsaw was created by Grasshopper Manufacture, a joint project between Suda51 and film director James Gunn. Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment distributed it in the U.S., earning mostly positive feedback from critics. In contrast, RePOP, launched on September 12 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, didn’t receive as much critical acclaim. It currently holds a “Fair” rating on Open Critic, with only 19 reviewers suggesting it.
