Lords of the Fallen 2 is coming in 2026; new details revealed

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I am beyond thrilled about the impending release of Lords of the Fallen 2 in 2026! The original and its reboot have been some of my favorite action RPGs, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting a worthy successor to fill the void left by the Dark Souls series.

The eagerly awaited second installment of “Lords of the Fallen,” originally released in 2023, is scheduled for release in 2026. The developers at Hexworks plan to produce a sequel with a stronger commercial focus, particularly in terms of visual aesthetics, to appeal to a wider range of gamers.

As per the recently released strategy document from CI Games, the creators of Lords of the Fallen 2, they are currently working on this game using Unreal Engine 5. A formal unveiling is scheduled for 2025 along with a robust marketing push. Keep in mind though, these timelines represent internal targets and could shift as development unfolds.

Among the main goals stated in the report, there’s a focus on making the game more accessible to attract a broader audience for this genre. Hexworks aims to realize this by creating new game modes and improving gameplay mechanics. One aspect they’ll incorporate is a ‘shared-progression’ system during cooperative play, alongside a central singleplayer campaign as its core.

A significant disclosure has been made concerning an exclusivity agreement with Epic Games, meaning that the game will only be available for purchase and play exclusively on the Epic Games Store when it comes to personal computers.

After experiencing both the initial and remade versions of Lords of the Fallen, I’m convinced the series has a lot of untapped potential. It could potentially step into the shoes left vacant by the hiatus of the Dark Souls series. In my view, the primary hurdle for the remake was its overcomplicated nature, which was largely due to having two distinct “realms” existing simultaneously.

The studio could breathe new life into the intellectual property by taking a simpler strategy, which may involve implementing a two-world framework once they have a larger workforce and resources at their disposal. Notably, it’s suggested that the upcoming sequel will be produced with a larger budget, as suggested in the report.

Based on all the details given, it appears that Lords of the Fallen 2 might surpass the sales figure of the initial game, as indicated by the CI Games document showing 1.3 million units sold.

Beyond Lords of the Fallen 2: The Future of CI Games

Apart from “Lords of the Fallen 2”, the publisher is also working on two other main projects: “Project SGW”, a fresh entry in the “Sniper Ghost Warrior” series that’s being developed with Unreal Engine 5, and “Project H”, an enticing new fantasy RPG.

CI Games has also outlined three secondary paths for the company:

  1. United Label: The “indie” label plans to release between two to three games annually. Recently, they launched Beyond Galaxyland and are gearing up for the highly anticipated Tails of Iron 2, scheduled for release in February 2025. Furthermore, the label has confirmed a contract for Tails of Iron 3.
  2. Project Scorpio: New tactical shooter IP with PvE focus made in Unreal Engine 5
  3. Project Survive: New survival IP made in Unreal Engine 5

As CI Games broadens its collection of offerings, it aims to cash in on a wide range of game categories, signaling an exhilarating prospect for enthusiasts of their gaming products.
