Luffy and Shanks’ Epic Reunion Spot Revealed!

This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf arc.

Summary

  • Shanks and Luffy’s reunion is highly anticipated, with Lodestar Island likely being the fated meeting place.
  • Shanks left Elbaf to handle serious matters first, like dealing with Bartolomeo and tracking down Blackbeard.
  • Luffy’s biggest test will be facing Shanks for the last Road Poneglyph, determining his fate as Pirate King.

Among all reunions in One Piece, Luffy’s with Shanks is arguably the most eagerly awaited. Fans have watched Luffy find inspiration in Shanks since the series’ start, and subsequently strive to emulate him as a top-tier pirate. However, Luffy’s ambition doesn’t stop at imitating Shanks; instead, everything about Luffy today is shaped by Shanks, yet his ultimate goal transcends mere imitation.

Luffy aims to outshine Shanks by assembling a superior pirate crew compared to his. The much-anticipated reunion between them is imminent, and it’s unknown whether Luffy upheld his pledge to Shanks or if Shanks’ wager on the new generation ultimately fell short.

Why Shanks And Luffy Didn’t Reunite In Elbaf

  • Shanks Had Important Things To Tend To
  • Luffy Needs To Grow Still

Fans of “One Piece” were anticipating a reunion between Luffy and Shanks on the island of Elbaf, given that Shanks oversees it as his territory. The assumption was that Shanks would be present when Luffy arrives due to this connection. However, the Elbaf arc revealed that Shanks had more pressing matters at hand. Upon reaching the island, he promptly dealt with some unfinished business involving Bartolomeo. Recall that Bartolomeo had burned Shanks’ flag and hoisted the Straw Hat Pirates’ flag at Gartel Island. Consequently, Shanks needed to address this transgression, which he did decisively by destroying his own ship and sinking it to the ocean floor.

After ensuring Bartolomeo’s wellbeing, Shanks’ primary ambition became locating Blackbeard. For a considerable period, Shanks has been chasing after Blackbeard, and fans are well aware that this pursuit won’t cease until they encounter each other. Shanks and Blackbeard share a profound history, and it is anticipated that their paths will cross in One Piece at the opportune moment. It appears that Oda is setting up a confrontation between Shanks and Blackbeard before he meets Luffy, which could undoubtedly be thrilling.

The Fated Point Of Reunion For Luffy and Shanks: Lodestar Island

Lodestar Island Is At The End Of The Grand Line

From what Roger revealed during the Oden flashback, it’s not the Final Island that sits at the end of the Grand Line, but rather there is another one next to it – Laugh Tale. However, an island does indeed exist at the endpoint of the Grand Line, serving as the destination for all routes – this island is referred to as Lodestar Island. On Lodestar Island, Roger and his crew deciphered the Rio Poneglyph, the Road Poneglyphs, and other essential information regarding the Final Island. Afterward, Roger resumed his voyage, found all the red Poneglyphs, and eventually reached the Final Island, which is none other than Laugh Tale.

At the prospect of Luffy and Shanks meeting, it seems quite plausible that their reunion will take place on Lodestar Island. This assumption arises as Luffy is consistently moving forward along the Grand Line, making it unlikely that he would reach the last Road Poneglyph in Elbaf anytime soon. Instead, it appears he must head somewhere else immediately after, and Lodestar Island seems to be the most likely destination. Furthermore, the crew may discover crucial information on Lodestar Island, and it’s also possible that this island might have a guardian of its own – Red Haired Shanks, the Emperor of the Sea.

Why Luffy vs Shanks Will Be Luffy’s Biggest Test

Shanks Will Hold The Key To The Treasure Of The One Piece

In the thrilling world of One Piece, I’ve come to understand that the solution to the final Road Poneglyph mystery hinges on a man bearing a burn scar—a man I now suspect might be Scopper Gaban from Elbaf, given his flame-marked face. Yet, it’s intriguing to note that Gaban recently crossed paths with Shanks in Elbaf. Could this encounter hold the key to unlocking the last Road Poneglyph? Only time will tell!

It’s plausible that Gaban gave the final Road Poneglyph to Shanks since they are relatives. If so, Luffy may soon find himself confronting the Red-haired Emperor for the same artifact. Overcoming Shanks would be Luffy’s toughest challenge yet; success would make him the Pirate King, but failure could mean losing everything he has worked for.

I’m excited to share that I’ll be catching up with the latest adventure in One Piece very soon, specifically on April 20! For readers in Japan, the new chapter will arrive at midnight on Monday, but for most international fans like myself, it’s scheduled to release later this week.
