Luffy Unleashes a New Power Beyond Haki and Devil Fruits

This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.

Summary

  • Luffy’s new power allows him to detect people from miles away.
  • This ability goes beyond Observation Haki, expanding into Voice of All Things territory.
  • Luffy’s future control over this power could make him practically invincible.

At present, “One Piece” finds itself in the Elbaf arc, where the Straw Hat Pirates find themselves in a challenging predicament. The Holt Knights, a formidable faction associated with the Celestial Dragons, have launched an attack on Elbaf with intentions to seize control over the nation. Notably, this invasion is orchestrated by none other than the ruler of the entire world, Imu.

With their backs to the corner, the Straw Hat crew is now poised to retaliate, and fans are well aware that Luffy will spearhead this attack. In order to confront Imu, the author will likely bestow Luffy with some thrilling power-ups, encompassing Gear 5 and Haki. However, it appears Oda has already granted him a significant ability that will propel him to a new stage.

Luffy Just Gained A Power Beyond Haki

  • Luffy Can Detect People From Miles Away
  • Luffy’s Ability Goes Beyond Observation Haki

As a keen observer of the Straw Hat Pirates’ exploits, it’s no secret that Luffy stands out as an exceptional Haki user. Among his comrades, Luffy’s mastery of Haki is unparalleled, excelling in virtually every aspect. With Conqueror’s Haki empowering his attacks, the Color of Arms for Internal Destruction, and not to forget, the ability to peer into the future with Observation Haki – a skill that fans are well-acquainted with. However, in One Piece chapter 1151, Luffy demonstrated an ability that surpasses even his Observation Haki. Effortlessly sensing Chopper and Scopper Gaban’s fall from the Sun World to the Underworld, Luffy showcased a talent that goes beyond the realm of what we thought was possible with his Haki abilities.

Wait, how was I able to tell it’s not Chopper? — Luffy

Observing the scene, I noted that even Sanji, our crew’s exceptional user of Observation Haki, and Luffy could sense someone taking a tumble. Remarkably, this sensation was shared by Loki too. Yet, it was distinctly clear to Luffy that the fallen one was none other than Chopper. This revelation left those around Luffy as well as Luffy himself in a state of astonishment. As depicted in the chapter, Luffy began to ponder over how he could discern that it was Chopper who had fallen. It seems this ability transcends the boundaries of Observation Haki.

Luffy’s New Power Is A More Prominent Form Of Voice Of All Things

Luffy Could’ve Sensed Chopper’s Voice

Previously, fans were unsure about how Luffy’s ability, the Voice of All Things, would aid him in battles. However, this changed after chapter 1151 of One Piece, as Luffy began to hear voices that he hadn’t before. Prior to this, Luffy could sense voices from creatures like Sea Kings and those within the Whale Forest. He also detected Zunisha’s voice and Emeth’s voice on Egghead. Now, Luffy can listen to the voices of people who aren’t talking or even nearby. For instance, when Chopper fell, Luffy might have heard his voice and identified it as such. Similarly, Luffy could potentially sense Gaban’s weakening voice, allowing him to recognize that it was him.

Luffy Will Eventually Control This Power

Currently, Luffy doesn’t possess the ability to command the Voice of All Things. However, in due time, he is expected to master this skill. This power could open up a multitude of intriguing possibilities for Luffy. For example, with this power, Luffy might develop the capacity to perceive the inner voices of his adversaries, thereby gaining insights into their thoughts. When coupled with Future Sight, such abilities would make Luffy virtually unbeatable. Furthermore, Luffy would be able to precisely locate all voices within an island and monitor everything simultaneously. Without a doubt, this power is immense and it will propel Luffy to new heights.
