When Luffy learned his friend Robin was in trouble, he never gave up. Even after being stabbed repeatedly, he kept getting back up to fight. This determination was also clear in his battles with Kaido, who knocked Luffy unconscious several times and tried to break his spirit. But Luffy always returned stronger, eventually unleashing Gear 5 to show Kaido he would never surrender, no matter how hopeless the situation seemed.
