Luffy’s Next Big Battle: Shamrock or Shanks?

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

Summary

  • Luffy is in Elbaf, setting up a potential fight with Killingham, a formidable opponent with unique abilities.
  • Shanks’ twin brother, Figarland Shamrock, is introduced as a potential future opponent for Luffy with powerful abilities.
  • Speculation about a possible timeskip after defeating the Holy Knights to train with the elite Giants of Elbaf for strength.

In simple terms, we’re currently in the Final Arc of “One Piece”, where all characters are strategizing their next moves. Fans have caught a sneak peek into Imu’s plots during the Egghead storyline, and the Elbaf arc has been gradually unveiling more about the world’s ruler.

Luffy’s journey towards being the Pirate King persists, and right now he finds himself in the giant-inhabited realm of Elbaf. As of yet, there’s been no battle for him here, but it won’t stay that way for long.

Who Will Be Monkey D. Luffy’s Next Opponent?

  • Luffy will fight Killibgham
  • Both have Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruits

It’s quite likely that Luffy will encounter one of the remaining Holy Knights while they are still in Elbaf. For this to happen, Luffy needs to exit the Underworld and return above ground. At the moment, Killingham is the only Holy Knight not engaged in a battle, which makes him an ideal match for Luffy.

Fighting against Killingham will undoubtedly prove challenging due to his possession of the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin – a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that enables him to induce sleep and manifest people’s dreams. While these powers might seem ordinary on paper, Killingham has demonstrated just how terrifying they can be. He has wreaked havoc across Elbaf, and thus far, no one has been able to disband his horde of dream-based adversaries.

It’s reassuring to know that Luffy can handle Killingham, given his past victories over powerful opponents like Kaido, Lucci, and Kizaru after awakening his Devil Fruit. However, using Gear 5th is challenging for him because he can’t sustain it for long periods. In contrast, Killingham appears to manage his Awakened state without issue. There might be an opportunity for Luffy to surpass this limitation during their fight, potentially reaching a new level of power altogether.

Luffy Will Fight Figarland Shamrock

For centuries, there’s been a heated discussion among fans about whether Shanks would engage in a battle with Luffy or Blackbeard. This was a conundrum due to the fact that seeing Shanks fight Luffy would be distressing, given their deep bond. However, the mystery has been clarified with the introduction of Figarland Shamrock. Shamrock is not only Shanks’ older twin brother but also the leader of the Holy Knights. Unlike his gentle sibling, Shamrock possesses a vengeful and cruel nature. He took pleasure in Sommers tormenting children, as long as it advanced their objectives.

Shamrock boasts an array of formidable skills, making him a daunting adversary. Being immortal, he’s capable of recuperating from any harm. Additionally, Shamrock wields Cerberus, a sword that metamorphoses into the legendary guard dog of the same name. In its transformed state, Cerberus can effortlessly wound characters like Loki. To cap it off, Shamrock also has mastery over Haki, which is likely of monstrous potency, allowing him to injure any user of a Devil Fruit.

Luffy vs. Shamrock Might Happen In The Next Arc

At the moment, Shamrock is in Marijoa, but he has the means to swiftly reach Elbaf thanks to the Abyss. If he fails to return, it’s likely that Luffy will confront him on the subsequent island. Given their current power levels, it seems reasonable for this encounter to take place after Elbaf, as Shamrock appears to be stronger than Luffy at present. In a one-on-one battle, Shamrock is predicted to come out victorious. It’s possible that Luffy could ally with Loki to defeat Shamrock, but a one-on-one fight seems more fitting for this scenario.

There’s been talk among fans that after the Holy Knights are defeated, there could be another break in the timeline. This theory seems plausible since the Straw Hat crew is not yet at their peak strength. If they want to get stronger, what better opportunity than training with the mightiest beings in One Piece – the Giants of Elbaf? These warriors are known for their exceptional skills, and they possess knowledge about Haki that could greatly benefit the Straw Hats. Let’s hope the upcoming chapters give us more insight into Oda’s plans for the storyline.
