Summary
- Madden NFL 22 servers will shut down on October 20, 2025.
- It will be preceded by Madden NFL 21 on June 30.
- Newer Madden NFL games will still have online functionality after those dates.
Once more, another game from Electronic Arts (EA) is scheduled to close this year, and Madden NFL 22 is slated for October 20th. EA maintains an up-to-date list of their games that are being closed, so fans of EA’s titles can stay informed about when specific games will have their servers turned off. This allows players to enjoy the games as much as possible before the shutdown date arrives.
2025 wasn’t exactly the year I had hoped for as a gamer. January felt like a punch to the gut when games like “The Simpsons: Tapped Out,” “Rory McIlroy PGA Tour,” and seven mobile titles were pulled from the shelves. February didn’t get any better with the closure of “UFC 3.” The blow continued in March, as “EA Sports UFC Mobile 2” and “NCAA 14” joined the list. It’s been a tough ride, losing some of my favorite games.
It’s disappointing news for football enthusiasts that the discontinuation of NCAA 14 isn’t the sole football game closing down in 2025. Earlier confirmed to shut down on June 30, Madden NFL 21 is now joined by Madden NFL 22, whose servers will be turned off this year as well. Players who wish to enjoy the game’s online multiplayer features should take note that they will no longer be available starting October 20, 2025. Afterward, only offline modes in Madden NFL 22 will remain playable, leaving fans without access to the full range of game modes and preventing them from unlocking all its achievements/trophies.
List of All EA Games Shutting Down in 2025
- Rory McIlroy PGA Tour – January 16
- The Simpsons: Tapped Out – January 24
- Blood & Glory Immortals – January 29
- Contract Killer: Sniper – January 29
- Deer Hunter Classic – January 29
- Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores – January 29
- Eternity Warriors 4 – January 29
- Frontline Commando 2 – January 29
- Frontline Commando: D-Day – January 29
- UFC 3 – February 17
- EA Sports UFC Mobile 2 – March 13
- NCAA 14 – March 13
- Madden NFL 21 – June 30
- Madden NFL 22 – October 20
It’s undeniably disheartening for Madden fans that Madden NFL 22 is being discontinued. However, the silver lining lies in the fact that subsequent games in the series, namely Madden NFL 23, 24, and 25, will continue to operate post-Madden NFL 22’s shutdown. This means that online multiplayer football gaming enthusiasts will still have several choices available after the discontinuation of Madden NFL 22.
Additionally, a brand-new edition of the popular “Madden” series is approaching. Specifically, we’re looking forward to Madden NFL 26, which is slated for release on August 14 and will also be accessible on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. And if you can’t wait that long, EA Sports College Football 26 will make its debut a month earlier on July 10 in retail stores.
