The upcoming Madden NFL game, version 26, has officially been given a release date, set for August 14, 2025. This forthcoming title in the Madden NFL series comes with an exciting addition: it can be pre-ordered along with EA Sports College Football 26, another recently announced game in the bundle. However, this special offer is available for a limited period only.
This popular professional football game franchise started back in 1988 when it debuted on personal computers with its initial release, “John Madden Football.” The series followed up with its second game in 1992 for the Sega Genesis and has never missed a year since then without releasing a new mainline title, covering six generations of gaming consoles. Its success shows no signs of stopping, as “Madden NFL 25” sold over a million copies within its first week and was one of the top-selling games on Xbox in 2024.
Based on a recent leak, EA has officially announced that Madden NFL 26 will be released on August 14. This date applies to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms like Steam and Epic Games Store. Pre-orders for the individual NFL game are now available, with the Standard Edition priced at $69.99 and the Deluxe Edition, which offers early access from July 7, costing $99.99.
Madden NFL 25 Gets its Release Date
In addition to buying the game individually, EA is offering customers the chance to combine their purchase of the pro football game with EA Sports College Football 26 (scheduled for release on July 10). The return of EA Sports College Football 25 last year, after a 12-year break in collegiate football video games, offered an excellent opportunity for EA to pair it with Madden, and this bundle is once again accessible for console players this year. The EA Sports MVP Bundle can be pre-ordered now for $149.99 on both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Given that pre-orders will only be accepted until April 29, fans who wish to acquire both games together should act promptly.
At present, it seems that the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are not included in this year’s release plan, marking the first time the series hasn’t appeared on Microsoft and Sony’s last-gen consoles since their debut. Interestingly, the original Nintendo Switch will once more be excluded, but with the announcement that Nintendo Switch 2 would feature a third-party game library including Madden NFL 25, many enthusiasts are now looking forward to playing the upcoming football game on that platform too.
