Madden NFL 26 Rookie Ratings: Players Try to Predict Their Overall Score

Newbie football players are getting ready for Madden NFL 26 by attempting to predict their overall scores a few weeks before the game’s launch. Typically, rookies don’t shine in games within the football series, and it’s unlikely that Madden NFL 26 will be an exception. However, some of these young athletes have lofty goals.

The video game titled “Madden NFL 26” is scheduled to hit the shelves on August 14, approximately a month following the release of its college football counterpart from EA on July 10. Historically, August sales are often heavily influenced by the Madden series, and alongside Call of Duty, it ranks among the most commercially successful sports franchises in terms of annual sales figures. The Madden NFL franchise has consistently made NPD Group’s top 10 list since 2010.

Given the buzz surrounding it, and following the unveiling of the 99 Club members for Madden NFL 26, many newcomers are eagerly awaiting the release of Overall Ratings (OVR), with some holding lofty expectations. A video posted on the NFL’s official Twitter account features interviews with 15 rookies from 13 different teams, and more than half of them aim to score a minimum of 80 on the overall scale. The most optimistic of these prospects is outside linebacker Mike Green, drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round, who predicts his Madden rating will be between 90 and 92. Chargers running back Omarion Hampton, too, feels highly skilled, expecting a rating of 87. Other rookies, such as Giants linebacker Abdul Carter, quarterback Jaxson Dart, Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham, Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty, and Saints offensive tackle Kelvin Banbks Jr., also anticipate their abilities to be rated at 80 or higher.

High numbers (ratings) aren’t typically seen among rookies in the Madden series. However, some rookies at launch, such as Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Joe Alt, both received a 79 rating. Most of the interviewed rookies were pleased with ratings around the 70s, including Shemar Turner from Chicago, Tyler Booker from Dallas, Jalon Walker from Atlanta, Will Campbell from New England, and Malaki Starks from Baltimore.

Additionally, Cincinnati linebacker Barret Carter showed humility, expecting a rating of 65 in Madden 26, which offers ample opportunities for advancement and growth. On the other hand, Seattle quarterback Jalen Milroe appears unconcerned with his ratings, focusing solely on becoming an effective mobile quarterback within the game. He humorously stated that as long as his character can move and pass the ball well, he’s satisfied, even if his overall rating is 40.
