Last year at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Hangar 13 unveiled their latest addition to the Mafia series, not called Mafia 4, but Mafia: The Old Country. Although it was hinted that it would release this year, we now have an exact date thanks to a recent leak.
The release date leak comes from Steam, which means this is more than likely the real deal.
Mafia: The Old Country’s Release Date Set For August
The planned reveal of the release date was initially scheduled for Pax East on May 8th, but it seems the game’s Steam page has accidentally leaked the information beforehand.
2K’s post indicates that there will be a developers panel taking place on May 8 at 7 pm BST/2 pm EST/11 am PT. During this session, Hangar 13 developers are planning to share fresh insights about the game and provide an exclusive backstage tour of the history, current state, and future developments of this renowned franchise.
Originally, the message (later revised) indicated that the game “Mafia: The Old Country” will become accessible on August 8, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC systems. It’s anticipated that we’ll see fresh gameplay clips at PAX East, culminating in the reveal of its official release date.

If Mafia: The Old Country comes out in August, there will be a significant gap before Grand Theft Auto 6 hits the shelves, given Take-Two’s estimated release date of Fall 2025 for the latter. However, it’s possible that GTA 6 might get delayed until 2026. We should find out more about this in the upcoming months.
