Magic: The Gathering is revealing all the new and returning gameplay features in its upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set. The popular trading card game from Wizards of the Coast has been actively collaborating with other franchises over the past year. The first official crossover set for standard play was Final Fantasy, released in June 2025, followed by cards featuring Spider-Man and Avatar the Last Airbender. Now, another exciting collaboration is coming soon.
In early March 2026, Wizards of the Coast will release the first set in their “Universes Beyond” series: a Magic: The Gathering collaboration with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Preview images of the set showcase cards featuring Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, and other popular characters from the franchise. A new pre-constructed Commander deck, “Turtle Power,” will also be available, letting players use the entire TMNT team as their Commander. Wizards of the Coast is now sharing details about how this new crossover set will play.
Magic: the Gathering Reveals New TMNT Set Mechanics
Details about the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) Magic: The Gathering set have been released, including several new keywords and game mechanics. The set introduces Mutagen tokens, which can be used to strengthen creatures, and the Sneak ability, letting players temporarily return attacking creatures to their hand to replay them. The keyword Disappear triggers when permanents leave the battlefield, and Alliance abilities activate when other creatures enter play. Players can also look forward to the return of classic mechanics like Class Enchantments, and a special version of the Partner ability, called Character Select, which is exclusive to TMNT cards.

The new card mechanics in the TMNT crossover set have the potential to significantly impact gameplay. Players have enjoyed Classes โ first introduced in Adventures in the Forgotten Realm โ because they let you strengthen Enchantments for more powerful effects. The return of the Partner mechanic allows you to team up your favorite TMNT characters โ the Turtles, Master Splinter, or April O’Neil โ to create custom decks. And the new Sneak mechanic is similar to the popular Ninjutsu ability, letting you quickly play your key creatures.
The new Magic: The Gathering expansion featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles offers more than just new cards and gameplay. Wizards of the Coast is also introducing ‘Turtle Team-Up,’ a cooperative minigame designed to be both a fun experience and a learning tool for new players. All the cards from the TMNT expansion have been revealed, after many of the Rare and Mythic cards were discovered during early access events.
Image via Wizards of the Coast Okay, so as a Magic player, 2026 is looking insane for crossovers! We’re getting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles really soon, and then Wizards of the Coast is dropping a whole new Marvel set in June, building on the Spider-Man stuff from last year. They’re calling it Marvel Super Heroes, and it sounds like it’s gonna be a big dive into the whole Marvel universe. But it doesn’t stop there! They’re heading back to Middle-earth with a Hobbitthemed expansion, and finishing the year off with a Star Trek* collab in November. Itโs clear Wizards is really leaning into these crossovers, and honestly, I’m here for it!
