Despite introducing long-desired features like the Dye System and co-op multiplayer, the update was marred by numerous bugs, visual issues, and login problems. So many players encountered these troubles that the developers of Infinity Nikki had to apologize and promise several fixes within a short period. Now, players are expressing their disappointment over some unanticipated alterations to Infinity Nikki‘s storyline.

On the r/InfinityNikki subreddit, players have noted significant modifications to the opening storyline following the 1.5 update. User shirasakirin has provided a contrast between the original and revised beginnings of Infinity Nikki. The most notable alteration is that Nikki no longer initiates her adventure in her mother’s attic; instead, she appears mysteriously within the “Sea of Stars” cooperative level from Infinity Nikki, which alters the background story for how Nikki arrives at Miraland. Another significant change involves Ena’s introduction, who was initially held captive before bestowing Nikki with the Heart of Infinity in a dramatic cutscene. Now, Ena encounters Nikki freely and informs her that Nikki has possessed the Heart of Infinity “since the beginning of time.” The new dialogues also suggest that Ena may not reappear later in the story.
