Mak-Yek Challenge Solution – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the Mak-Yek puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been one of the most intriguing challenges I’ve encountered yet. The Thai board game, with its seemingly complex rules, initially left me feeling overwhelmed, but once I deciphered the pattern, it became a captivating brain teaser that kept me engaged for hours on end.

In order to win the rewards hidden in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s Sukhothai chapter, Indy must first understand how to play this Thai strategy board game, known as A Game of Wits, and learn how to outsmart it.

Initially viewing the Mak-Yek board could leave players somewhat bewildered and overloaded, but this guide aims to clear up any confusion by providing the key code for the lockbox as well as explaining how to unravel the solution for the intricate puzzle in the game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

How to Solve the Mak-Yek Puzzle

You can discover the Mak-Yek puzzle within the central premises of Voss’ Camp, situated in the northernmost part of the Sukhothai map.

Within the room, there are two notes available for the players, both offering insights into the functioning of Mak-Yek. The first one is Lorenzo’s Challenge, which initiates the A Game of Wits mystery. This note provides instructions on how to obtain the safe’s code. To achieve this, you must move four distinct blue units (one at a time) in a way that allows them to capture all nine red units.

With the help of the Mak-Yek Rules guide, players will find it simpler to understand where they can start moving their red pieces.

  • A piece can move horizontally or vertically any number of squares, or until an obstacle is hit.
  • Enemy pieces can be captured by surrounding them with two of your own pieces.
  • A piece can be moved in between two enemy pieces that are one square apart to capture them.

Following these guidelines, players should aim to arrange their blue pieces in a way that allows them to take control of all red units using only 4 of their own blue units.

  1. Move the blue unit on F1 to F3, which takes the two red units on E3 and G3 – thus making the first number for the code 3.
  2. Move the blue unit on H1 to D1 (made possible because the blue unit on F1 has moved). This will capture the C1 red unit, and identify the second number for the code as 1.
  3. With C1 captured, move the blue unit on B1 to B8, which captures A8, C,8, D8, and E8’s red units thanks to the blue unit waiting at F8. This makes the third number for the code 8.
  4. With all red units on row 8 claimed, move the F8 blue unit down to F6. In conjunction with the blue unit at F3, the last two red units of F4 and F5 will be claimed, and that provides the fourth and final number for the code: 6.

The code to the A Game of Wits safe is 3186.

As a gamer, I’ve stumbled upon a secret code that can be inputted behind the Mak-Yek board. Inside this safe lies a pile of gold waiting to be spent in the Sukhothai chapter. There aren’t many other useful items in here, but the wealth can be used for guides and the Air Breather item. It’s always beneficial to solve mysteries for Adventure Points, and having cash on hand is crucial for obtaining fantastic Adventure Books, like the ones hidden in the Jungle Bruiser Pit.
