From August to November 2023, an anonymous person named Kazama made a total of 39 menacing communications towards Nintendo through their online query forms. During this time, Kazama issued threats to sabotage and cause harm, vowing to “eliminate everyone” associated with upcoming competitions. These threats compelled Nintendo to postpone the affected events. The first event to be moved was Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024, which featured tournaments for various games including “Splatoon 3” and “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.” The second event, Splatoon Koshien 2023 National Finals scheduled for December 2023, was subsequently rescheduled to April 2024.
