Manga That Had Better Endings Than Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo

Following the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, creator Gege Akutami announced a sequel called Modulo. This new manga was much shorter than the original, running for only 25 chapters from September 2025 to March 2026.

I’ve been really enjoying this series – it’s done a great job of bringing in some fresh faces while also fleshing out the characters we already know and love. And honestly, the finale of JJK Modulo was surprisingly good! Some might even say it topped the original. It definitely wrapped things up nicely, though I’ve definitely read manga with even more impactful endings, but it was still a solid conclusion overall.

This post contains spoilers for several anime series.

Fullmetal Alchemist

Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist is widely considered a modern classic. Fans still rave about it because of its exceptional quality. The manga excels in every aspect, from its detailed world to its compelling story – it truly doesn’t have any weaknesses.

The same holds true for how the story concludes. In the finale of Fullmetal Alchemist, Edward Elric defeats Father and saves the country of Amestris. He also restores Alphonse’s body, though he loses his own ability to perform alchemy in the process. Ultimately, Edward gains something far more valuable: a family. Alphonse is freed from his armor, and Edward marries Winry. Considering all of this, it’s clear that Fullmetal Alchemist has a more satisfying ending than Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo.

Monster

Naoki Urasawa’s Monster is considered his greatest work. The story powerfully illustrates how even a single choice can dramatically alter someone’s life, and this is central to the experiences of the main character, Tenma. He was on a path to success, but saving a seemingly ordinary boy instead of an important VIP completely changed his fate, leading to rejection from his colleagues.

Near the end of the story, Johan attempts to take his own life, hoping to completely disappear from memory. However, Tenma unexpectedly arrives and saves him once more. The story concludes with Johan’s bed shown empty, leaving his ultimate destiny uncertain.

Naruto

Naruto is a hugely popular manga, and one of the best-selling of all time – it’s sold over 100 million copies thanks to its compelling story. The series centers on Naruto Uzumaki’s journey to rescue his friend and prevent a global disaster.

Near the end of the Naruto series, Naruto defeats Kaguya Otsutsuki before battling his friend, Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke attempts to kill him, but Naruto refuses to fight back with full force, not wanting to lose their friendship. In the end, Naruto convinces Sasuke to stand down. After the world discovers what Naruto has done, he’s celebrated as a hero, and becomes famous throughout the land.

Haikyuu

Even though Haikyuu is a sports manga, it’s become just as popular as more mainstream action series. Some people think it’s simply about characters improving their athletic skills, but that’s a big oversimplification of what the story offers.

Haikyuu isn’t just about volleyball; it deeply explores the personal growth and emotional lives of its characters, showing their struggles both on and off the court. The series culminates in a long-awaited, thrilling match between Hinata and Kageyama, and many fans consider it one of the most satisfying conclusions in recent shonen anime – even better than the ending of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Mushishi

Mushishi is a beloved manga known for its imaginative world, beautiful character designs, and compelling stories. The author carefully crafted it to be truly special. The series follows Ginko, a traveler who helps people dealing with mysterious creatures called Mushi.

The story concludes with another encounter with a Mushi, but this time the issue is far more complex. Despite the challenges, Ginko perseveres and manages to resolve the problem. The manga closes with Ginko continuing his travels, suggesting this pattern of events will continue indefinitely.

Gintama

Honestly, Gintama is just phenomenal – easily one of the best manga ever made! What I love most is how it perfectly balances incredible action with laugh-out-loud comedy, and even after a seriously intense fight, you’re still guaranteed to be chuckling. And the ending? Wow. The final battle was one of the most emotionally powerful moments in the whole series, seeing Gintoki finally put an end to all the fighting was just… incredible.

After the final battle, the heroes returned to their everyday lives and continued running their business. The ending was incredibly satisfying for longtime fans of the series. It was so well-received, in fact, that Studio Pierrot decided to create a movie adaptation.
