Marathon Cheaters Will Be Perma-Banned, No Second Chances

Unfortunately, cheating will always be a problem in online games. It happens because some players want an unfair advantage, and others try to make money from creating and selling cheating tools. It’s just something online games have to deal with.

This is something Bungie is already anticipating in its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon.

Players will be happy to hear that Bungie is strongly committed to banning cheaters, and it’s a great example for other games to follow.

Marathon Cheaters Won’t Get a Chance to Do It Again

Bungie recently shared an update with players about their dedication to supporting Marathon as an evolving online game. They plan to consistently release updates and improve the game’s network technology and security. They also warned anyone considering cheating that their accounts will be permanently banned.

Bungie has announced a zero-tolerance policy for cheating in Marathon. Anyone caught cheating, or creating tools to cheat, will be permanently banned. While they strive for perfect detection, they will offer an appeals process to review any potential errors.

Bungie issued a threat to would-be cheaters that if they cheated, that’s it for their account.

If you play fairly, this is a positive change, and I hope to see more game developers follow suit.
