Marathon Will Not Require A PSN Account on Other Platforms

The team behind Marathon has made it clear that gamers won’t be required to own a PlayStation Network account when they want to play the game on their PC or Xbox systems.

Marathon Doesn’t Require PSN on Xbox and PC

Regarding Marathon, since it’s supported by Sony, some gamers were concerned they might need a PSN account to play it across different platforms. However, as Eurogamer noticed, Bungie has alleviated these concerns by clarifying through their official Discord channel that Marathon will not mandate a PlayStation Account for players on PC and Xbox.

Initially, some PlayStation games launched on PC necessitated a PSN account. Many may recall the controversy surrounding Helldivers 2’s release on Steam in early 2024, which led to review-bombing. Since then, Sony (PlayStation) has realized that users prefer not to use a PSN account on other platforms and have made account creation optional. Additionally, they’ve tried to motivate its use by offering incentives for recent releases like The Last of Us 2 Remastered, God of War Ragnarök, among others. Recently confirmed, Marathon is now one such game that does not require a PSN account.

After keeping quiet since its first unveiling, more details about Marathon will be shared on April 12. Bungie has scheduled a showcase to reveal gameplay for their upcoming multiplayer extraction shooter, which was previously discussed by TopMob last year regarding its loot system mechanics.
