One creative player of the game Mario Kart World has designed a personalized map that illustrates all the roads within the game, shedding light on how the tracks in the open world interlink. Navigating the intricate road system within Mario Kart World can be tricky due to its diverse locales, but this custom map may prove useful when playing the game.
For quite some time now, the highly anticipated Mario Kart World, exclusive to Switch 2, has piqued the interest of many Nintendo enthusiasts. It’s no wonder that this game has significantly boosted the appeal of the Switch 2, with countless players investing substantial amounts of time into its engaging gameplay. One unique aspect that sets it apart from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is its expansive open-world setting. Although there are different play modes available, they all reside within a single large map. To align with the racing theme, Nintendo has intricately designed an extensive network of roads to connect the tracks.
Lately, a Reddit user named MrL314 published a map of the roads in the open world of Mario Kart, designed to aid navigation. The image shows various paths marked with lines, including roads and other travel routes. These lines were color-coded, indicating how each path was utilized. For instance, black lines signified “Primary Roads” that were used during races. MrL314 opted for green lines to denote non-race roads, while red lines represented railroads. Although less common, the map also highlighted aquatic and gliding paths used in races via blue and gray dotted lines respectively.
Mario Kart World Fan Maps Out the Open World’s Roads
As a devoted fan, I’d like to draw your attention to MrL314’s statement about their map for Mario Kart World not being “completely finished,” as certain roads are yet to be added. However, this work-in-progress map offers a far clearer picture of how the game’s open world is interconnected compared to the in-game option. The player began this project due to finding the in-game UI difficult to understand. It comes as no surprise that many fellow fans have echoed MrL314’s sentiments and applauded their efforts. To date, their post has garnered over 1K upvotes, with numerous gamers commenting that Nintendo should consider updating the in-game map to incorporate such details.
As I eagerly anticipate possible user interface enhancements in Mario Kart World, I’m grateful for fan-created alternatives to keep me engaged until then. In addition to a comprehensive map, one dedicated fan has crafted an external app specifically for Mario Kart World. This app, accessible on iOS devices, assists players in monitoring their progress during Free Roam. The MK World Travel Guide simplifies the discovery of key locations such as P Switches and Medallions, making gameplay even more enjoyable.
We’ll see what Nintendo plans for the Switch 2 game over time. Further updates are expected in the coming weeks, but some changes implemented in the game haven’t been well-received by the community. For instance, a recent update to Mario Kart World seems to have worsened online racing for many players, as it’s become harder to play traditional lap-based courses. Here’s hoping things get better for fans soon.
