The latest trailer for the upcoming Mario Tennis Fever on Nintendo Switch 2 showcases what players can expect. A key announcement is that this installment will have more playable characters than any previous Mario Tennis game, and it will even introduce Baby WaLuigi as a new character!
I was so excited when Nintendo announced the new Mario Tennis game during the September Direct – it was part of the celebration for Mario’s 40th anniversary! Then, on January 8th, 2026, they dropped a new trailer that really showed off everything new. We finally got to see the whole character list, and I couldn’t believe it – Goomba and even Baby WaLuigi are playable! It looks amazing.
More Mario Party Tennis Fever Features
The game boasts a large selection of characters and introduces Fever Rackets – over 30 unique rackets, each with a special ability. The Shadow Racket, for instance, creates a clone of your character to confuse opponents. New game modes are also included, such as Mix It Up, which adds unexpected challenges to matches. One example is Ring Shot, where players score by hitting balls through rings, and Forest Court Match, where hitting Piranha Plants with balls expands the playing field.
So, I’m really excited about Adventure Mode! Apparently, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, and even Waluigi get turned into babies by these crazy monsters. Luckily, Donkey Kong steps in as our babysitter, and we have to work together to get everyone back to normal. It sounds like a wild ride with a bunch of challenges, and I can’t wait to try it out!
Alongside the news about Mario Tennis Fever, Nintendo revealed new colored Joy-Con controllers. These come in light purple and light green and will be available starting February 12th – the same day Mario Tennis Fever comes out for Nintendo’s console.
