Originally a mobile game, Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home is now also available on PC and consoles as Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home Special Edition. While the two versions are very similar, the Special Edition includes some extra content, like two new characters you can marry. All Marriage Candidates In Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home
In HM HSH, you originally could choose from eight potential marriage partners, but the Special Edition added two more: Ella and Nikolai. After progressing to Chapter 9, you can propose to the character you’ve grown close to. To build a strong relationship, remember to give them gifts they love and talk to them every day to increase their affection – shown as musical notes.
Christina/Justin
- Birthday: Spring 24
- Favorite Gift: Strawberry Pansy, Edelweiss, Mushroom Stew
Depending on who you choose to play as, either Christina or Justin will invite you back to Alba to help restore the valley. These two are childhood friends who will support you throughout your journey. You can build a romantic relationship with them, and even marry them at the end of the game by increasing their affection level through musical notes. They’re both cheerful and encouraging, always motivating you to succeed.
Harriet
- Birthday: Summer 7
- Favorite Gift: Hibiscus, Aquamarine, Red Fish Sushi
Harriet, the fisherman’s daughter, starts off as a bit cold and unfriendly, but you can eventually win her over as a romantic interest. She’s a dedicated fisherwoman and initially feels she doesn’t have time for you, unlike the farmers, as she’s always busy with work. As you build a relationship with her, she stops criticizing your lifestyle and becomes more accepting of the farmers. With each musical event, Harriet begins to relax and share her feelings more openly.
Braden
- Birthday: Spring 19

Barden grew up helping his parents, Andy the carpenter and Penelope the seamstress. He’s a friendly face from your past, always happy to see you. He worries he isn’t as good at carpentry as his father, and isn’t sure he can take over the family business. But you can help boost his confidence! As you get to know him through his musical events, you’ll help Barden discover his own unique talents and build his self-assurance.
Jeanne
- Birthday: Winter 7
- Favorite Gift: Clam, Agate, Milk
Jeanne is a lifelong resident of Alba and a bit shy. She’ll greet you like an old friend. She often gets flustered and worried, but after you helped her restart the local newspaper by supplying wood, she began interviewing farmers and featuring them in her articles. Participating in musical events will help you build a stronger connection with her as she gets to know you better through these interviews and shared time.
Hugo
- Birthday: Autumn 26
- Favorite Gift: Lobster, Diamond, Truffles Meuniere
Hugo used to work in a city restaurant but now lives and runs a restaurant called Piemont in Alba. During the game Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home, the restaurant temporarily closes due to issues with the townspeople. Players, as farmers, will help Hugo reopen it, and eventually get to sample his new dishes – he loves trying out new recipes!
Malika
- Birthday: Autumn 6
- Favorite Gift: Chamomile, Opal, Ahi Poke
Malika won’t be immediately present in Alba when the farmers return. She’ll take some time to adjust to life in the village. She arrives looking for a place to live and decides to open a Gift Shop. Essentially, Malika isn’t accustomed to close friendships because she’s constantly traveling. Because of this, she’s hesitant to open up or fall in love, as she anticipates having to leave eventually. However, players can help her change her perspective and encourage her to share more about herself through the musical note events.
Jacques
- Birthday: Winter 26
- Favorite Gift: Goldfish, Tanzanite, Vichyssoise
I’m really intrigued by Jacques! He shows up a bit later in HM HSH, and he’s a university student who came to Alba to finish his research on farming. It’s cool how being Fredrick’s grandson gives him a leg up getting info, because honestly, he’s not thrilled about being stuck in the village! As a player, I’m excited that I can hang out with him, help him adjust to village life, and basically show him the ropes since he’s used to the city.
