Adding side quests to a game is a great feature, as seen in Ghost of Yotei. This is a key element that makes open-world RPGs feel like a truly immersive and enjoyable experience, especially for players who enjoy discovering everything a game has to offer.
As you continue north from the starting area, you’ll reach the Huranui’s Rest Inn. This location offers several activities and a few engaging side quests. This guide covers everything about the Marshland Homestead quest in Ghost of Yotei, including finding the Gambler and saving her.
Marshland Homestead Quest Guide In Ghost Of Yotei

Once you arrive at the Huranui’s Rest Inn, speak with the innkeeper inside to begin the Marshland Homestead quest in Ghost of Yotei. The Huranui’s Rest Inn is located on the Nupur River, situated between the Ohara Plains and the Moiwa Grotto. The innkeeper will tell you that Chika, a frequent patron, consistently won against Saito’s men at the gaming tables. This angered them, and they took her. He explains that he can’t allow his customers to fear that being successful at games will lead to harm. He then requests that Atsu locate Chika and bring her to safety.
To locate the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei, travel east from the Huranui’s Rest Inn to the Tomamu Marshlands. Focus your search on the northern part of this area, where Chika is being held captive in an enemy fortress called Marshland Homestead. Like all other outposts in the game, this one is strongly defended by Saito’s forces. Therefore, proceed with caution when attempting to rescue the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei.
Furthermore, guard dogs are constantly patrolling the camp, which significantly hinders anyone trying to sneak in. You should eliminate them using Atsu’s bows before they can raise the alarm and alert the soldiers to her position. Once that’s done, Atsu can quietly enter the camp to search for and rescue the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei. Alternatively, you could start a direct confrontation and attack the entire outpost head-on.
The Gambler is located in the middle of the Marshland Homestead outpost, protected by a single Brute soldier. You can only eliminate the Brute through assassination if you’ve unlocked the Brute Assassination perk, enabling Atsu to take down bigger opponents.
Okay, so after I beat that Brute soldier and saved the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei, things got hectic! A bunch of new enemies just *spawned* and surrounded both Atsu and Chika. We had to fight them off as a team to clear out the fortress and get rid of all of Saito’s guys. Once that was done, I headed back to the Huranui’s Rest Inn and talked to the innkeeper. She gave Atsu 450 coins as a reward for saving the Gambler in Ghost of Yotei – not a bad haul, honestly!
