Marvel Comics and Toho International have unveiled special variant covers for the upcoming Godzilla: Infinity Roar comic book series. The five-issue series, which was first announced at New York Comic Con, is written by Gerry Duggan with art by Javier Garrón and Ig Guara.
In the comic series Godzilla: Infinity Roar, Marvel heroes like Captain Marvel, Galactus, and Thanos battle giant monsters—kaiju—including Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Rodan. The story picks up after Godzilla’s defeat in Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe. Now, Godzilla has been revived by Knull, the Symbiote God, and the two are joining forces to conquer the cosmos. Each issue will feature stunning cover art celebrating this epic team-up.
Godzilla: Infinity Roar is Getting Cosmic Variants for All 5 Issues
Fans of both Marvel and Godzilla will be excited to know that Godzilla: Infinity Roar #1 comes out on February 24th. Each issue of the comic series will have a special cover showing a Marvel hero fighting a giant monster (a kaiju). Some of the battles featured on the covers include:
- Captain Marvel Vs. Mothra
- Galactus Vs. King Ghidorah
- Cosmic Ghost Rider Vs. Destroyah
- Thanos Vs. Rodan
- Phoenix Vs. Mechagodzilla
Three special variant covers have been released, each depicting an epic battle. Captain Marvel is shown fighting Mothra, Galactus faces off against King Ghidorah, and Cosmic Ghost Rider charges into battle with Destroyah, chains blazing. Paulo Siqueira illustrated the Captain Marvel vs. Mothra cover, Junggeun Yoon created the Galactus vs. King Ghidorah artwork, and Dave Rapoza designed the Cosmic Ghost Rider vs. Destroyah cover.

He’s known for his cover art on titles like 2023’s Venom Lethal Protector 2 and 2022’s Star Wars: Hidden Empire. Junggeun Yoon has also created cover illustrations for Marvel, including The Web of Black Widow (2019) and Spider-Woman (2020). Dave Rapoza’s Marvel cover work includes art for series like Secret Wars 2099 (2015) and Spider-Verse (2019).

It looks like Captain Marvel is defending against energy blasts from Mothra, while Galactus is having trouble with King Ghidorah’s electrical powers. Cosmic Ghost Rider seems to be winning his battle against Destroyah, as he’s shown charging directly into the monster with his fiery chains ready.
Godzilla: Infinity Roar Has Yet to Reveal 2 of the 5 Cosmic Variant Covers
More covers for the Cosmic Variant series are still to come, including those featuring Thanos versus Rodan and Phoenix versus Mechagodzilla. Marvel and Toho International haven’t said when these will be shown, but fans can probably expect to see them before the comics are released in May and June 2026. E.J. Su and Mark Brooks are creating the artwork for these covers.

As for the Phoenix vs. Mechagodzilla cover, you can get a good idea of the style from earlier this year’s Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe. These covers really capture the feel of classic monster movies, and fans will want to grab an issue to see how these giant monsters measure up against Marvel’s most powerful cosmic heroes.
