Marvel Rivals: 10 Best Tips For Competitive Mode

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that mastering the art of teamwork is key to conquering the battlefield in Marvel Super War. Here are my top 10 tips for playing like a pro:

1. Use those Pings: Giving a few hints can save your Strategist! Be sure to ping enemy locations, ask for heals, or notify your team about your ultimate status. Good communication is crucial in high ELO matches.
2. Never Flank Alone: Flanking in pairs works best, and it’s even better if you have a healer. If your healers are busy, ask the other Duelist to join you and flank enemies’ Strategists.
3. Form Your Party: Playing with people you trust can make all the difference. Scout nice players, add them as friends, and play with them in ranked matches.
4. Never Flame: Keep a cool head, even when things get heated. Flaming your teammates won’t help anyone win, so focus on your gameplay instead.
5. Prioritize Healers: In any game mode, prioritizing a hero that can buff or heal their allies is the top priority.
6. Form an Opinion: I believe that knowing everything about your hero is essential to unleashing their full potential. Think out of the box during the match for crucial picks and wins!
7. Flank Smartly: If you must solo flank, be strategic about it. Find the right moment to strike, and make sure you have a healer nearby if possible.
8. Communicate: Good teams are well-coordinated and communicate effectively. Use voice chat or text chat to keep your team informed and on the same page.
9. Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Always keep an eye on the minimap and be aware of enemy movements. Knowing where the enemy is at all times can help you avoid getting caught off guard.
10. Have Fun: At the end of the day, it’s just a game! Don’t take things too seriously, and enjoy the ride. A positive attitude can go a long way in helping your team win!

So there you have it, my top 10 tips for playing like a pro in Marvel Super War. Remember to communicate, prioritize healers, and always think strategically. Good luck on the battlefield, warriors!

(By the way, I heard that Doctor Strange has been known to make an appearance at random times… just saying.)

As someone who has been a gamer for over two decades, I can attest to the fact that most games are designed for the casual player. However, I have always found myself drawn to the competitive mode in these games. It’s where things get intense and I get to witness some of the most skilled players, unique team compositions, and tactical maneuvers that I wouldn’t normally see as a casual gamer. The adrenaline rush is unlike anything else, and it always leaves me feeling invigorated.

Players are grouped according to skill levels (tiers) and earn points by winning games. On the flip side, they can drop down in rank if they happen to stumble in a few matches.

Or,

In the tiers system, players gain points for victories and may fall in ranking after losing a couple of matches.

In the competitive mode of Marvel Rivals, it might be tough to advance, particularly for newcomers, given its compact character lists and numerous potential hero pairings.

Based on my years of gaming experience, I wholeheartedly recommend these 10 top strategies for Competitive mode that I’ve found to be effective in boosting my rank and unlocking the coveted Golden Moon Knight skin. Give them a try, and you’ll likely see improvement in your gameplay!

10. Warm Up Before Queuing

Getting Ready

If you have a whole day with no plans and choose to spend it playing ranked matches, that’s fantastic! However, I wouldn’t suggest starting your day with a ranked match. Instead, consider warming up with some casual games or practicing before jumping into the competitive arena.

It’s a good idea to take some time to get warmed up and stimulate your neural connections before joining in for a challenging game. Make sure to play at least one match prior to entering Competitive Mode, as it helps refresh your muscle memory.

Swift Training, Domination, or Drill ground: select an area to hone your primary champions’ skills efficiently before jumping into the Competitive setting.

9. No Experiments In Ranked

Old Is Gold

This suggestion aligns with the one following: it’s not wise to attempt playing a hero you’re unfamiliar with. While it can be thrilling to be versatile, diving into a hero you barely know might lead to disadvantages instead.

As the game progresses, you’ll need to adapt to their talents, devise strategies, and adjust your position constantly, all while learning more about their capabilities.

So, sure, try out that new hero in casual or conquest mode, not in the competitive mode.

8. Learn To Fill For The Team

Take One For The Team

In some games, you might not get a chance to play the character you prefer as someone else might take it first. If that happens, you’ll need to step up and choose another character to suit your team’s needs instead.

If you primarily play as a Duelist character and find yourself reaching Iron Fist rank after another player, you’d need to opt for a Strategist hero instead, should there be no other options available.

Therefore, it’s crucial to maintain adaptability, as you don’t need to master every character, but rather, having a good grasp of one or two heroes from different classes can significantly enhance your gameplay experience.

Determine the playing style of the hero that best fits you when it comes to filling a specific role. This ensures that you won’t impede your team and instead contribute positively to their gameplay.

7. Learn Hero Counters

Very Important To Know

Similar to Overwatch, Marvel Rivals allows you to switch characters during the game. It’s crucial to understand which character can counter another as no team is invincible. While one team setup might perform well in several matches, it’s not indestructible.

In a hypothetical situation, if you were fighting against a team consisting of Moon Knight and Hawkeye, it’s likely that Hawkeye could defeat you with a single attack, while you might need multiple attacks to defeat Moon Knight. This is where understanding which heroes can counterbalance or neutralize each other becomes crucial.

When your opponent fields Melee Duelists, it’s best to opt for Strategists or Duelists in response. These characters have the ability to stun enemy skirmishers. Their strategy is usually to overpower you, so your goal should be to dodge their attacks and retaliate effectively.

6. Prioritize Other Team’s Strategists

Don’t Let Them Heal

So long as the opposing team’s Strategists remain alive, it will consistently prove challenging to eliminate them. These characters specialize in healing their team and enhancing them with abilities such as damage amplification, speed enhancement, and continuous healing effects.

In simpler terms, strategists prefer not to engage directly in combat, instead relying on fighters who specialize in one-on-one battles (duelists) and those designed to absorb enemy attacks (tanks) to protect them from the frontlines. This is because these support characters are crucial for success. To gain an advantage over them, it’s essential to target their defensive line or breach their backline.

Zero in on the opposing Tacticians to disrupt their healing resources, leaving them exposed for your Duellers to take advantage of.

5. Queue Break For A Few Minutes

Take A Pause

Sometimes, you get bad teammates who like to throw the game and spoil the fun for everyone on the team. If you instantly queue after a match, you may end up queuing with them again.

Instead of continuously selecting “Avoid as Teammate” on the final match screen, I recommend taking a short break for about a minute or two before re-entering the Competitive mode. This is due to the limit that’s in place.

That way, your chances of ending up with the same bad teammates could be less.

4. Know Your Main Inside & Out

Use Those Tricks

To fully utilize your protagonist’s abilities and make them shine, it’s crucial to be well-acquainted with their traits and background. This way, you can effectively guide them through the game when necessary.

For instance, when it comes to playing the game, I opt for Moon Knight as my character of choice. Typically, I’m more of a strategist, but with Moon Knight, I find comfort in knowing that his Ankhs can be broken. Therefore, a tactic I often employ is positioning them behind enemies, followed by an immediate attack to rapidly deplete their health bar.

Considering unconventional strategies during the game could lead to key decisions that boost your chances of winning. However, steer clear of overly daring moves to ensure success.

3. Form Your Party

Take Your Chance

Most players don’t form their own teams and join the competitive mode by queuing up individually. This often results in an unpredictable experience when playing with random teammates. While some may criticize you for not focusing on their specific needs, others might sabotage the game without any apparent reason.

Instead, consider singling out those kind individuals who lent a hand to others throughout the game, as potential recruits for your team. Alternatively, you might also want to think about becoming part of their group instead.

In competitive games, I tend to seek out friendly players, connect with them as friends, and engage in matches with them. That way, I can be certain that my opponent appreciates the game mechanics.

2. Never Flank Alone

Go In Pairs

If you aren’t particularly adept at being a Duelist, I wouldn’t advise trying to flank on your own. Instead, it’s more effective to flank with another person, and having a healer along is even better.

If your healers are attending to the Vanguards, then request another Duelist to assist you in attacking the enemy’s Strategists from a flanking position.

Regardless of the game mode, it’s crucial to prioritize a character who can boost or heal their teammates above all else.

Ping your location to your healer whenever you’re flanking; they may be able to pocket-heal you.

1. Use Those Pings

Give A Few Hints

As a gamer, I make sure to keep my team informed about an enemy flanker’s position. That way, we can protect our Strategist. The best gaming crews are those that work together seamlessly and communicate effectively, especially in high-stakes matches where every move counts.

It’s possible that if the opposing team didn’t move from their starting point at the start of the game, it might mean their Doctor Strange is creating a portal somewhere in your backline. This could signal an imminent surprise attack by their whole squad on your strategists.

In that spot, the pings can quickly guide your team towards the opposition and allow them to adjust their positions. Utilize the ping system to request healing, warn the team of an adversary’s presence, or inform them about your ultimate readiness.

If you notice an adversary absent from the battlefield, try to find where they are hidden. Mark their position as they could be plotting a surprise ambush.
