As someone who has spent countless hours grinding through battle passes in various live-service games, I must admit that Marvel Rivals‘ Battle Pass system leaves me wanting more. While the cosmetics on offer are enticing, the progression feels frustratingly limited due to its reliance on daily and weekly challenges.
In the same vein as many multiplayer games nowadays, Marvel Rivals debuted with a seasonal battle pass feature. This pass allows players to complete missions and use currency to obtain an array of exclusive cosmetics. Each new season brings fresh items for them to acquire. However, the Battle Pass in Marvel Rivals appears to be somewhat limited by its progression system.
Hey there! Right now, I’m finding that the only method for advancing through the tiers of Marvel Rivals’ battle pass is by completing daily and weekly missions. The good news is, most of these tasks are quite straightforward. However, it seems like I need to accomplish plenty of them before I can purchase even a single tier. Although the battle passes aren’t time-limited, the current progression feels somewhat restrictive. If NetEase Games hopes to keep me hooked on Marvel Rivals, they might want to make some significant changes in an upcoming update.
Marvel Rivals’ Battle Pass Progression May Need More Depth
Marvel Rivals’ Battle Pass Progression Feels Rather Limited
In contrast to many other battle passes available, the Marvel Rivals battle pass advancement is exclusive to daily and weekly challenges, granting Chrono Tokens to players of Marvel Rivals. Furthermore, certain story challenges will also reward them with tokens, as well as a few extra perks. These tokens can be used to purchase items from the battle pass, with each cosmetic item costing roughly between 200-400 tokens. It’s important to note that these tokens can only be obtained through completing these missions.
The progression through the Marvel Rivals‘ battle pass can feel frustratingly slow on occasion. Unlike some other games like Fortnite, where you can advance in the battle pass by just playing the game and earning XP, Marvel Rivals requires you to complete daily missions. However, incorporating additional methods for players to earn tiers, such as gaining them through simple gameplay, would make the battle pass more accessible and less daunting. Hopefully, NetEase Games recognizes this and makes adjustments accordingly.
NetEase Games Needs to Give Players More Ways to Unlock Battle Pass Tiers
Initially, the game Marvel Rivals incorporates a leveling system, yet upon reaching a new level, players do not receive any tangible rewards. Currently, the only aspect linked to its experience point (XP) system is competitive play, which can be unlocked once a player reaches level 10. Beyond this competitive feature, the standard leveling system appears to serve no other purpose than to display a number on their profile.
As a dedicated Marvel Rivals gamer, I can imagine NetEase Games making an exciting tweak to the game by linking the leveling system with the Battle Pass. While daily and weekly challenges would still be key for earning Chrono Tokens, it’d be cool if we also got some tokens every time we level up our account. This change would provide a bit more freedom in acquiring battle pass items, and could potentially keep us engaged for longer periods, as the incentive of leveling up would add an extra layer of excitement to gameplay.
Fans of the Marvel Rivals game have been enjoying the hero shooter thus far, yet some have expressed concerns about how the battle pass tiers are distributed. At this point, NetEase Games has remained silent on whether they plan to make changes, but if they wish to maintain player interest, it might be beneficial for them to consider doing so. Although the battle pass system doesn’t detract from the overall experience, offering more ways for players to earn tiers could be an effortless way to improve the game.
