In Quick Match’s spirit, I’ve found an engaging mode where the competition is more intense. The strategic layouts are identical, yet it seems everyone is putting forth their best effort. Interestingly, certain maps offer a unique twist: players can switch between offense and defense, making each gameplay session a thrilling test of strategy and skill.

How to Unlock Competitive Mode in Marvel Rivals

First, you’ll need to unlock the game’s Competitive Mode. Thankfully, this is a simple press.

You must be level 10 to queue for Competitive Mode in Marvel Rivals.

To advance to level 10, it’s just a matter of spending a few hours playing the game and accumulating sufficient progression points along the way.

After completing that task, navigate to the Play menu, then select the option above the yellow start button labeled “Switch Mode”.

We want to join the Competitive Mode queue on the next menu, so click that box.

Differences Between Quick Play and Competitive Mode

In the Diamond tier, I get a cool new advantage – before each game starts, my team and I can choose to veto certain characters from the pool. It’s like we have a say in the battlefield composition even before the fight begins!

As you keep winning games in the competitive mode, you’ll accumulate points which will eventually grant you access to higher rankings.

There are eight ranks in total, six of which have three separate tiers.

Victory in a game grants you points towards your next level. On the flip side, defeat leads to a reduction of points, so tread with caution. Features like the Chrono Shield are designed to shield you from point loss.

The Chrono Shield serves as a protective measure, safeguarding you from dropping in rank following a defeat. However, once activated, it enters a cooling-off period. This cooling-off phase gets replenished with each subsequent loss.

As your rank increases, so does the amount of defeats required to completely restore it. This function acts as a safety measure during a prolonged losing spree. While it won’t stop you from dropping ranks altogether, it can lessen the impact when things aren’t going well.

How to Rank Up in Marvel Rivals

As a Marvel Rivals gamer, climbing up the ranks is as easy as victory itself. Each triumph I secure adds points to my total, propelling me further up the leaderboard. The more victories I rack up, the more points I accumulate, ultimately elevating my standing among the best of the best.

Every time you accumulate 100 points, you’ll advance to the next level or tier. For instance, when you gather 100 points in the Bronze Tier III, you’ll progress to Bronze Tier II. Similarly, you’ll move up to a new rank once you reach 100 points in the Tier I.

The number of points you accumulate depends on various aspects, including the skill level of the opposing team and your personal performance throughout the game.

A high Kill/Death ratio is important, but being an excellent team player is crucial for maximizing your points. Your contributions matter even in a defeat, as they can lessen the impact of the points lost.

What Kind of Player You’ll Find at Each Rank in Marvel Rivals

Each rank offers a unique playing style, ensuring a distinct gaming experience at every level.

  • Bronze: These people are either new to competitive mode, casually checking it out, or, if we’re being brutally honest: bad. Don’t expect much teamwork or cooperation.
  • Silver: You can expect some teamwork and cooperation here, but some players still need to check their egos at the door, which can be frustrating.
  • Gold: Players know how to work together in a team environment and understand that sacrifices must be made when picking your team. They’re good but may lack finer details.
  • Platinum: People here can pub stomp people in lower ranks but need to excel at map knowledge and top-tier strategy to improve. Don’t be surprised to see a lot of pre-made groups queueing up together starting here, too.
  • Diamond: This is where players start to know the ins and outs of every hero, which is important since banning takes place at this rank.
  • Grandmaster: Players here know the ins and outs of complex strategy, hero strengths and weaknesses, and layouts of each map like the back of their hands.
  • Eternity: The line between amateur and professional starts to blur here. Everyone at Eternity is excellent at the game, but One Above All is limited to the top 500.
  • One Above All: These are the best players in the game, who are way better than anyone reading this article could ever dream of.
