There’s been talk online that the creators of Marvel Rivals might be inserting fictitious superheroes into their game code as a tactic to deceive and apprehend leakers. Could this be true, or is it just speculation?
The initial talk about this topic surfaced on the Marvel Rivals Leak Discord forum, where the data miner and leaker, Keone, proposed a theory suggesting that NetEase might be introducing fictitious characters into the game with the intention of puzzling data miners.
Greetings all, it appears that developers have created characters to identify and apprehend individuals leaking information. This may extend beyond just those in the code, possibly involving internal sources as well. Kang is likely to provide more details later on, but for now, here’s a list of these characters that we’ve managed to discern. Keone then shared an image of these characters, which he suspects will not be part of the game.
Are There Fake Heroes Being Planted in Marvel Rivals?
However, it’s important to note that the tale doesn’t conclude just yet. In fact, a member of the X0X Leaking Team, known as zvis_ceral and also recognized for data mining, provided additional clarification on the matter.
He mentioned that this isn’t a guarantee they’ll definitely arrive or the exact timing, but it’s to demonstrate their existence. Continuing on, he spoke in terms of characters and code.”
Or
“He clarified that this doesn’t mean for certain when or if they will show up, but rather, it’s to prove they do exist. He then continued with a series of references to heroes and coding language.
@zvis_ceral
These characters from the Marvel universe aren’t definitively confirmed to appear or with a specific timeline for their appearance. Instead, this serves as a demonstration that these characters do indeed exist within the data tables. 🧵

It’s unlikely for developers to insert false code into their games with the aim of trapping leakers, as this doesn’t seem rational given the circumstances. The reasoning behind this is that any new characters or elements destined for the game must already exist in its code. Consequently, these “real” heroes would be unveiled prematurely before their official announcement, regardless of the presence of the fake code designed to catch leakers.
Although I’m not an expert in data mining when it pertains to games, it appears to me that this code is more about game development rather than a devious scheme by developers to harm leakers. The game code only reveals that certain features were under consideration at some point, but whether they will be released or not remains uncertain unless the code explicitly states so.

It seems like you’re asking whether Marvel Rivals is creating fake heroes, but I believe that’s not the case. Instead, I think there might be a misunderstanding about the game’s coding or its intended meaning.
What do you think of the Marvel Rivals leaks? Do you think some have been fake-planted?
