Alright mate, let me tell ya, I’ve been playin’ this game for a good while now, and I gotta say, Bucky Barnes is one of me favorite characters to play as in Marvel Super War. Now, I ain’t no pro gamer or nothin’, but I’ve had me fair share of battles with the Winter Soldier, and I can confidently say he’s a real powerhouse when you know how to use him.

The way I see it, Bucky’s abilities are designed for a more aggressive playstyle, and if ya can get a feel for ’em, you’ll be pickin’ off opponents left and right. The hook is a fantastic tool for getting up close and personal, and the bionic arm? Well, that baby packs a punch!

But don’t get me wrong, Bucky ain’t just all about the aggression. He’s got some tricks up his sleeve for defense as well, like the shield and the ability to negate certain abilities with his cybernetic enhancements.

Now, I’ve seen plenty of players struggle with Bucky, but if ya take the time to learn his moves and work well with your team, he can be a real game-changer. So, give him a shot, mate, you might just find yerself addin’ another character to yer favorite list!

Oh, and don’t forget to have a laugh now and then, it helps take the edge off when things get tough out there on the battlefield!

Since it was first launched, Marvel Rivals has been gradually becoming one of my top picks for multiplayer games, boasting a diverse roster of characters that can be both incredibly enjoyable and maddeningly frustrating.

Of course, regardless of the situation, when you have grasped the basics, that’s when you might find yourself drawn to more technically challenging characters such as the Winter Soldier, who is also known as Bucky Barnes, and consider giving them a try.

Character named Bucky, a skilled Duelist, wields a potent three-round pistol and employs unpredictable tactics by integrating his Bionic Arm capabilities. These include the use of a hook for a surprise melee dash, which catapults opponents when they’re unsuspecting.

This character requires significant skill to master, performing optimally only when wielded by proficient players. In this manual, you will discover the most effective strategies, counterattacks, and synergies specifically for the Winter Soldier.

Winter Soldier Abilities Overview

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Winter Soldier, in my humble opinion, truly shines when it comes to character abilities rather than his weapon’s ammunition capacity. Having played numerous games and mastering many characters, I can attest that the real power lies not just in the number of shots one can fire but in the unique abilities each character possesses. In the case of Winter Soldier, his skills and agility far outweigh the limited ammo count on his weapon. It’s all about strategy, timing, and knowing when to use those special abilities to gain the upper hand in any given situation.

Using Bucky’s abilities excessively won’t bring you much success either, as he’s a character designed to excel when his abilities are used strategically, much like characters such as Magik.

As a seasoned team leader with years of combat experience under my belt, I firmly believe that every member of a team should be utilizing their skills to the fullest extent possible. If you’re not maximizing your abilities in this regard, then it feels like you’re dead weight to the rest of us. However, I understand that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and we all have our moments when we might falter. But we’ll discuss strategies for making the most of your abilities later on. Here is a list of the Winter Soldier’s skills for reference.

Abilities Description
Roterstern Primary weapon. Fire explosive rounds with his blaster, Roterstern, damaging the target hit and enemies behind them. Holds only 3 shots, each dealing 70 base damage with a fire rate of 2.5 RPM.
Kraken Impact Ultimate ability. Leap high, then dash forward and slam down with the bionic arm, dealing damage to enemies in range, marking them for Culling. Marked enemies will perish instantly if their health falls below a certain threshold, recharging the bionic arm for another Kraken Impact within a short period. Recharge lasts 8 seconds before refreshing with each kill.
Trooper’s Fist Dash forward, seizing enemies along the path, and Launch Up enemies in front at the end of the dash. Deals 90 damage with a cooldown of 12 seconds.
Tainted Voltage Charge up and launch a powerful electrical punch with the bionic arm in the target direction, dealing damage to enemies within range and Slowing them. This ability can knock down flying heroes. Deals 55 damage with a cooldown of 6 seconds.
Bionic Hook Charge up and launch a hook with his bionic arm, reeling in the first target hit and enemies lurking behind. Reels in targets with 15 damage and a cooldown of 8 seconds.
Ceaseless Charge Passive ability. Roterstern reloads automatically while the bionic arm is in action, granting the Winter Soldier Bonus Health.

Winter Soldier Offensive Abilities

Since Bucky is a Duelist, there are numerous strategies you can employ, and while his skills seem to indicate he’s a technically proficient hero to master, if your goal is to mount the most offensive attacks, you’ll need to become particularly skilled with him.

The general approach for Bucky involves trapping enemies with hooks, firing a shot, then using melee dashing to hurl them aloft and complete the job there. It would be beneficial to hone your shooting skills as often as you can, since the Roterstern inflicts substantial damage on frail characters when it lands critical hits.

Using any of Bucky’s Bionic arm abilities will automatically refill your Roterstern, encouraging you to make the most effective use of these abilities.

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours battling it out in various online arenas, I find myself drawn to the intricate strategies involved when playing as Winter Soldier. The key lies in mastering the art of cycling his abilities and exploiting that unrelenting ultimate move of his which can be continuously chained with kills. It’s a dance of destruction, one that demands precision, timing, and an understanding of your foe’s movements. The thrill of victory after executing this deadly combo is unparalleled, making it all worth the effort.

  • Playstyle and Positioning: As Bucky, your positioning for general usage should be in mid-range to ensure you can hook opponents easily, monitor the battlefield, and your flank openings, and adequately get your shots off of the Roterstern. Close quarters are only encouraged when you activate your Ultimate where you obviously want to go full aggressive on the enemy team.
  • Hook, Turn, and Sinker: Bucky’s Bionic Hook is easily my favorite ability in his arsenal, reminding me of when I used Roadhog’s Grappling Hook in Overwatch 2 to pummel the enemy. It is heavily advised you use this ability to reel in small-fry targets like unaware healers in the backline. Most importantly though, a trick that I like to use (which I also used with Roadhog) is to hook someone and flick the camera so that the hooked target gets slightly flung to the side. This tactic is great when hooking Tanks to enclose them from their team and can catch them off guard.
  • Armed and Dangerous: The Kraken Impact is the cream of the crop for the Winter Soldier, from various viral clips of players spamming it for a whole minute to even myself getting quads with it. Practice is key here, as you need to learn how to use this Ultimate ability under high-pressure situations. Launch it on a target or multiple at once, finish one off, immediately go for another on a visible enemy, rinse, and repeat. It is one of the strongest Ultimates in the game if you know how to use it properly.
  • Tainted Voltage’s Flytrap: To reiterate, Tainted Voltage will knock down flying heroes like Iron Man out of the sky, making their disposal swift if you’re on the frontlines and pushing with your team. You can obviously use it with your ability combos when hooking and going for the melee dash but try to use this whenever possible to disable aerial characters from their comfort zone.
  • Projectiles, not Hitscan: This is just a reminder when you’re playing him for the first time, it’s easy to assume that the Winter Soldier is a Hitscan character like Hela; he’s not. The bullets from Roterstern travel quickly but, they still have travel time attached to them, thus technically making him a projectile-based character.

Winter Soldier Defensive Abilities

Regrettably, since Bucky functions better based on your abilities, his defensive consistency largely depends on how effectively you outplay other characters.

If you grasp a few strategies from our many hours spent playing together, you might be able to hold your own against the Winter Soldier when things get challenging.

  • Easy to pick off: An obvious statement but remember that unlike heroes like Iron Fist and Scarlet Witch who can survive due to their abilities to some extent, you’ll need to figure out which heroes you can engage against safely, either that or play against them at mid-ranges and only go for your ability combos with your teammates around.
  • Rocket Raccoon’s Ammo Buff: I would’ve mentioned this in the team-up section but if you’re in a jam and you can’t push as Bucky, luckily a Rocket Raccoon in the team grants him the ability with either Winter Soldier or Punisher for an Ammo Overload box, allowing you to constantly spam Roterstern for a short period.
  • Armdashing for Repositioning: Using your Trooperdash ability to reposition yourself in the heat of battle isn’t a bad strategy, I’d even recommend it for some maps if you’re looking to gain the height advantage over the opposition or you need to escape an engagement.

Winter Soldier Counters & How To Deal With Them

Switching up the phrasing a bit:

“Venom, our Vanguard hero, can make you wish you hadn’t picked him with his defensive shield and escape tactics. Meanwhile, Black Panther’s unpredictable gameplay might give you trouble too. However, when it comes to countering these heroes, the Winter Soldier shines.

But be cautious around DPS characters such as Hawkeye; they have the ability to defeat you quickly if you expose yourself even a little, so it’s best to keep your distance from them and focus on other potential targets instead.

To wrap things up, I can counter your Hook with my force fields as Magneto, while a skilled Star-Lord player can dodge to nullify any attempts with their Bionic Arm abilities.

As a gamer, let me break it down: Bucky’s matchups can be tricky. You gotta gauge the enemy team composition and determine if Bucky is the right pick for that specific fight. Most heroes (except those I mentioned) could potentially give you a tough time in this matchup. So, it’s crucial to adapt your strategy accordingly.

Winter Soldier’s Team-Up Abilities

Ability Required Heroes Description
Infinite Grit Rocket Raccoon Rocket Raccoon throws an Ammo Overload in the target direction. Upon entering the device’s range, the Punisher and Winter Soldier receive the buffs of Infinite Ammo and Faster Firing.

At present, the Winter Soldier only has one opportunity for teaming up, which grants him a temporary limitless ammunition supply for his Roketstern. This ability can be particularly beneficial in tricky scenarios where you find yourself pinned down and can’t move forward against the opposition easily.

In simpler terms, although I’ve previously explained that Bucky’s effectiveness is clear through his skill usage, this team-up ability allows him to remain effective even in defensive situations in specific circumstances.

In simpler terms, you are in a position where all you can do is shoot at the opposition from afar, until eventually, you break through their defenses by coordinating with your teammates for a powerful charge.

Best Team Comps With The Winter Soldier

Now, since we have a hero like Winter Soldier, I previously mentioned that Rocket Raccoon’s unique team-up ability, which is essentially infinite ammunition, enables you to fire your Roterstern weapon continuously from afar.

In addition to their team-up potential, Mantis is an excellent strategic choice when paired with Bucky, as she enhances their damage output. This empowers you to eliminate opponents with greater ease.

In a simpler version: When combined with Bucky, Mantis offers a boost in damage which makes it easier to defeat opponents quickly.

If you want to keep the offensive momentum on the battlefront, having characters such as Thor or Venom as your vanguard would be beneficial, since they can consistently apply pressure to the opposing team.

As a gamer, I’d say: In this scenario, there aren’t many other strategies that stand out for a perfect team setup. My comrades could opt for an aggressive DPS approach with characters like Iron Fist, but the full potential of Winter Soldier largely depends on our team’s aggression levels and my performance.
