Marvel Rivals’ Jeff is Only a Nugget of Gold in a Rich Vein

As a seasoned Marvel enthusiast who’s spent countless hours immersed in the vibrant world of these iconic characters, I can confidently say that Jeff the Land Shark has stolen my heart and left me eagerly anticipating more adorable animal characters in Marvel Rivals.

Who will be the next character to join the Marvel Rivals team remains an intriguing question, as players eagerly anticipate fresh seasonal content. With 33 characters on Marvel Rivals’ initial roster, there are numerous Marvel heroes who could potentially join and many relationships that need to be fully represented. For instance, the Fantastic Four is yet to make an appearance, several X-Men alumni have not been included, and the game currently lacks a significant number of genuine villain characters.

In essence, the current lineup of characters in this game is quite diverse and adequate to keep players engaged until the next season or addition of new characters. Many players are still discovering a good chunk of these characters, while some favored ones have been seen as excessively powerful, leading to calls for balancing adjustments. One such character is Jeff, a strategist in Marvel Rivals, who has caused quite a stir with his It’s Jeff! Ultimate’s potentially misleading hitbox. However, despite his troublesome abilities, a significant portion of the fanbase finds him endearing due to his playful, cute, and innocent demeanor. Jeff is not the only charming animal character in Marvel’s extensive collection, and it’s hoped that Marvel Rivals will recognize this potential for growth.

Marvel Rivals Must Strike While the Iron is Hot with Adorable Animal Characters

In the game Marvel Rivals, Jeff the Land Shark has become the character most associated with memes and his cuteness is worthy of universal acclaim. However, his Ultimate move can be frustrating. It’s challenging not to support such a lovable baby shark, especially when he’s depicted as chubby and cheerful instead of menacing and shark-like. To maintain player engagement, Marvel Rivals should consider adding popular characters like Gambit, Ghost Rider, or Gamora to its roster. But if the game wants to maximize Jeff’s popularity, it would be a missed opportunity not to include other cute animal characters from Marvel as well.

  • Ant-thony (perhaps as a mount for Ant-Man)
  • Cosmo
  • Devil Dinosaur
  • Goose
  • Hit-Monkey
  • Howard the Duck
  • Lockjaw
  • Throg

Marvel boasts a wide variety of animal characters that Marvel Rivals might classify into a role and make just as adorable as Jeff the Land Shark. Take Goose for instance, who could be a tiny, unassuming Flerken. This character could hide a pocket dimension and extend purple tentacles to capture opponents, although this might be too similar to Jeff’s own tricks.

Resting comfortably like any common house cat, Goose exhibits a quiet strength that could match Jeff’s energy. Similarly, Cosmo, disguised as a Golden Retriever-Labrador hybrid astronaut, would charm everyone with his unique appearance. Add to this his telepathic and psionic talents, and he would make an ideal Strategist in the Marvel Rivals universe.

It’d be fantastic if, as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy team, Cosmo were also a part of the combined effort of Adam Warlock, Mantis, and Star-Lord in their revitalized Guardian collaboration.

Marvel Rivals’ Post-Launch Characters Hopefully Don’t Follow a Sole Mantra

It’s unfortunate that news about Fantastic Four characters joining Marvel Rivals surfaced early through leaks, but given the fact that there are not just one but two Doctor Dooms driving the game’s main storyline, it was probably a foregone conclusion. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to know that Marvel Rivals will feature characters from all corners of Marvel Universe, whether they are well-known or relatively unknown.

As someone who’s been closely following the Marvel Universe, I can’t help but wonder if Marvel Rivals will choose to follow the trend of including characters already depicted in the MCU, to create even more skins inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yet, regardless of their decision, Jeff the Land Shark opens a metaphorical mystical gateway for Marvel Rivals, offering them an exceptional opportunity to showcase animal characters in a 6v6 hero shooter. This could lead to endless creative possibilities when it comes to imagining their unique powers and roles within the game.
