Marvel Rivals Release Times Announced

Marvel Rivals Release Times Announced

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the hero shooter genre has seen its fair share of ups and downs. From the early days of Team Fortress 2 to the meteoric rise of Overwatch and Battleborn, we’ve witnessed some truly spectacular highs, as well as the occasional disastrous lows, like Concord.

Following an exciting unveiling and some unexpected legal matters, it appears that the game named “Marvel Rivals” is almost ready for launch, and NetEase has officially announced its scheduled release time.

Marvel Rivals can be played on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S game consoles.

As reported by NetEase, Marvel Rivals will be released on December 6 at exactly 12:00 AM (Coordinated Universal Time). If you’re eager to join the action right when the clock strikes midnight in London, you can start pre-loading the game from as early as December 4 at 12:00 AM (UTC).

Regrettably, similar to STALKER 2 last month, only players with accounts on Steam and the Epic Games Store have the ability to pre-load the game at this time.

The latest information on system requirements says Marvel Rivals requires 70 GB of disk space, which could translate into a lengthy download depending on the server loads.

If you are a console gamer, this is your call to do a little clean-up on your storage drive, lest you end up fumbling to delete games and three-years old Overwatch trickshot compilations while everyone else downloads Marvel Rivals.

A Super Hero Shooter

Marvel Rivals Release Times Announced

The idea of a hero shooter, as we understand it today, has been around for approximately ten years. However, one might contend that Team Fortress 2 paved the way for this genre much earlier.

After a meteoric rise with Overwatch and Battleborn, the genre is in a creativity crisis today.

In 2023, Blizzard aimed to recreate its initial triumph by unveiling Overwatch 2. However, the end result appeared more like a satire of the original, failing to address the primary concern posed by its player community: “What makes this sequel worth my interest?

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel a tinge of frustration – or perhaps more accurately, salt – as the game has only heightened its appeal this year with the introduction of a ‘Classic Overwatch’ mode, reminiscent of the original that first won me over.

Despite facing more challenges than any other hero shooter, none could compare to the struggles of Concord. By the time Sony took it over, Firewalk Studios had already poured in a staggering $200 million, followed by an additional $200 million investment afterwards.

The game was launched on August 23rd, however, it met an untimely demise just two weeks afterward when Sony disclosed their decision to shut down the servers and issue refunds because of weak sales performance.

After Firewalk Studios closes down due to the Concord catastrophe, there’s optimism that NetEase might capitalize on the Marvel brand’s popularity by developing a hero shooter game that focuses heavily on the ‘hero’ aspect. This could breathe new life into the genre, offering something unique and exciting.
