As a long-time Marvel enthusiast and avid gamer, I’ve been captivated by the dynamic world of Marvel Rivals since its inception. With my fingers perpetually crossed for new characters to join the fray, I’ve spent countless hours poring over comics, watching movies, and even dreaming about who could potentially shake up the game’s roster.
Since its debut, Marvel Rivals has been boasting about its character lineup as a significant draw for players. Post-launch, anticipation for new characters remains high, shaping many discussions about the game. Rumors suggest the introduction of some upcoming heroes, adding more fuel to the speculation fire. Fans have shared their imagined rosters, contributing to this ongoing discussion. It’s clear that Marvel Rivals has a wealth of possibilities waiting to be explored.
Despite all the accolades it’s receiving, it should be noted that the game isn’t perfect. For instance, Marvel Rivals doesn’t have a role queue system, and this seems to amplify the imbalance in the current roster composition. At present, Duelists are overpowering, leaving Strategists and Vanguards somewhat underdeveloped. Fortunately, there are numerous Marvel characters waiting to fill these roles effectively.
Marvel Rivals Could Have Massive Potential with Future Vanguard Heroes
Ms. Marvel Could Offer a Vanguard Take on Stretchy Powers
It seems almost inevitable that Ms. Marvel could join the roster of characters in “Marvel Rivals” given her rising popularity. Although there are similarities between Ms. Marvel’s abilities and Mr. Fantastic, who is rumored to be playable, developers have ample ways to make Ms. Marvel stand out uniquely and strengthen the game with a fresh character like her, serving as a key figure or “Vanguard” in “Marvel Rivals”.
Mr. Fantastic mainly utilizes his abilities to stretch, whereas Ms. Marvel refers to her power as expanding herself. This essentially means she can increase her size to shield herself from harm and gain extra health. Additionally, Ms. Marvel can use her expanding powers for crowd control, drawing enemies closer to her allies so they can finish them off, or stun them with a powerful swing of an enlarged fist.
Ghost Rider Could Take Vengeance on Enemy Duelists
Initially, one might assume that Ghost Rider would align best with the role of damage dealers among Marvel Rivals’ Duelists. However, upon closer examination, his most famous powers are reminiscent of a tank’s traditional responsibilities. With a distinctive style all its own, Ghost Rider presents an opportunity for a novel design, and comes from a part of the Marvel Multiverse that deserves more visibility in Marvel Rivals.
In the Marvel Rivals game, Ghost Rider, famously recognized as The Avenger of Wrongs, could serve as an ideal template for his character design. With his Penance Stare, Ghost Rider could mete out retribution upon opponents who have bested his fellow teammates, and perhaps even restore a fallen comrade to the fray. Akin to Roadhog’s hook in Overwatch, Ghost Rider might employ his chain to drag enemies from afar towards him.
Sentry’s Inclusion in Marvel Rivals Would Be Perfectly Timed
In the game “Marvel Rivals,” Sentry is one of several contenders for future Vanguards. While certain characters might catch the eye due to unique abilities or popularity, it’s Sentry who often takes the lead, owing to a new Marvel franchise set to debut soon.
In the upcoming movie “Thunderbolts,” scheduled for release in May 2025, Sentry is part of the main cast. The connection to merchandise and other media is evident, but Sentry offers much more than just that. His abilities, reminiscent of Superman, would bring something unique to the team. Furthermore, his villainous alter ego, “The Void,” presents an opportunity for intriguing character development, particularly in an Ultimate or alternate version. This darker side of Sentry is sure to create an air of menace befitting a member of the Vanguard.
Marvel Heroes and Villains Will Have to Fight for a Spot on Marvel Rivals’ Roster
There’s an abundance of potential heroes and villains suitable for the Vanguard role in Marvel Rivals, and it’s difficult to list them all. Captain Marvel would undoubtedly be a great fit, and watching Ms. Marvel battle alongside her role model would certainly be a delight. Moreover, there are numerous Marvel heroines who could excel as Vanguards. Armor, She-Hulk, and Moon Girl, with their powerful defensive abilities, seem particularly well-suited for this position.
It seems clear that characters like Juggernaut and Colossus would be natural choices for the Vanguard role, while Kitty Pryde might be overlooked yet suitable. Many Marvel villains could fit the Vanguard stereotype, such as Dracula and Knull, who are hinted at in the story of Marvel Rivals. Additionally, there are rumors that The Thing will join the Vanguard. Although not all characters can make it into Marvel Rivals, it’s exciting to imagine that those who do might bring more diversity to an already dynamic roster.
