Marvel Rivals Would Be the Perfect Playground for One Spider-Man Villain

As a seasoned connoisseur of the cinematic arts, with a particular penchant for the Marvel Universe, I find myself captivated by the potential addition of Kraven the Hunter to Marvel Rivals‘ roster. Having witnessed the underwhelming portrayals of this iconic Spider-Man adversary in recent films, I am hopeful that this hero shooter will breathe new life into his character.

No matter how many thrilling Duelists there are in Marvel Rivals’ base roster and how many players seem disinterested in queuing as a Strategist, the ‘healer’ role is becoming increasingly popular and already boasts quite a few dynamic options. Between Adam Warlock, Cloak and Dagger, Jeff the Land Shark, Loki, Luna Snow, Mantis, and Rocket Raccoon, there is probably a healer who will lean more toward a player’s preferred playstyle than another and can be deferred to if the lobby is oversaturated with DPS characters.

In the popular game Marvel Rivals, additional Strategists are expected to join the fray before long, and their abilities will undeniably need to be unique. Ultimately, it’s the character’s distinctiveness or versatility that will matter most. Interestingly, there are numerous villain characters in Marvel Rivals that have yet to make an appearance on the roster, with only Hela, Loki, and Magneto currently present. Introducing more Spider-Man villains would certainly be a welcome addition, considering their diverse personalities. For instance, Kraven the Hunter could be further developed as a Strategist in this game, showcasing his potential to excel in various roles.

Marvel Rivals Missed the Kraven Hype Train But Could Board at the Next Station

Sony’s movie featuring Kraven the Hunter didn’t stir up the same level of viral memes and excessive enthusiasm as Morbius did. Perhaps Madame Web was just too much, considering Venom: The Last Dance came out not long ago. Nonetheless, those tired of Spider-Man villain spin-offs will be happy to learn that they’ve ended with Aaron Taylor-Johnson portraying Sergei Kravinoff.

Similar to its related films, “Kraven the Hunter” significantly deviates from the traditional portrayals and origins of its characters, offering a representation that strays far from the original comic book characterizations. However, despite these departures, Kraven has the potential to be an engaging Spider-Man adversary, as demonstrated in Insomniac’s “Marvel’s Spider-Man” video game series.

In a slightly different phrasing: The character Kraven the Hunter in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is somewhat dependent on his armed militia, but he remains intriguing with an enjoyable boss battle prior to the game’s third act unexpectedly transitioning into a symbiote invasion. Despite this, Kraven sets a high standard for recent adaptations of the character that are impressive. Among various platforms, Marvel Rivals might offer the best opportunity to showcase his unique strategies and strengths, making him an engaging choice on the roster.

How Kraven the Hunter Could Look as a Marvel Rivals Strategist

In a role as a Marvel Rivals Strategist, Kraven the Hunter could truly embody his moniker. Should he enter the 6v6 hero shooter scene, it wouldn’t be unanticipated for him to utilize traps and snares with an animal theme, reminiscent of Peni Parker’s webs and drones.

Combining traps with Peni and Kraven could create a formidable challenge for opponents on a control point. However, since Peni is a Vanguard, it’d be intriguing to have a Strategist with similar traits. Since Strategists are often called healers, Kraven might acquire potions that he can use to self-heal and boost the health of others, much like Venom’s Symbiotic Resilience ability that provides an instant health boost in critical situations.

Lastly, it would be fantastic to see the iconic “Kraven’s Last Hunt” comic book storyline adapted as a Team-Up between Kraven and Spider-Man that could possibly feature a respawn bonus for both characters or a base bonus health for each character. Kraven could easily fit into a Vanguard or Duelist role, but as a Strategist Marvel Rivals would be able to milk him for all he’s worth—every character thus far has been fleshed out wonderfully in their kits, and Kraven would need to be no different if he ever arrives in the future.
