As a seasoned Marvel Snap player myself, let me tell you, Symbiote Spider-Man is nothing short of a game-changer! This Activate card brings a fresh breath of excitement to the game, and with its universal ability and diverse synergy across decks, it’s like having an extra superhero on your team.
For September 2024, the Marvel Snap Season Pass introduces Symbiote Spider-Man. He’s a four-point card worth eight powers and has an Activate ability that lets him combine with the lowest-cost card in his lane, adopting its text. As the first Activate card to be part of the Marvel Snap roster, Symbiote Spider-Man made his debut with the start of the Amazing Spider-Season, where this unique ability type was introduced to the game.

The Best Deck for Symbiote Spider-Man
Right now, I’m absolutely loving the seamless performance of Symbiote Spider-Man in a deck that features Black Panther and Arnim Zola. To create a similar setup, consider combining these three characters with an array of cards such as Odin, Shuri, Taskmaster, Armor, Forge, Ironheart, Magik, Wong, and White Tiger.
Card | Cost | Power |
---|---|---|
Symbiote Spider-Man | 4 | 6 |
Black Panther | 5 | 4 |
Arnim Zola | 6 | 0 |
Armor | 2 | 3 |
Forge | 2 | 2 |
Magik | 3 | 2 |
Ironheart | 3 | 0 |
Wong | 4 | 2 |
Shuri | 4 | 1 |
White Tiger | 5 | 1 |
Taskmaster | 6 | 0 |
Odin | 6 | 8 |
The Symbiote Spider-Man Deck’s Synergies
- Symbiote, Black Panther, into Arnim Zola is the primary combo. You play Symbiote, merge it with Black Panther, and hit it with Arnim to get two 56-Power cards.
- Shuri and Taskmaster are backup plans. You can use them to copy Symbiote Spider-Man’s Power or double it. (White Tiger is also a plan-B card for when you can’t play Black Panther.)
- Forge and Ironheart are buff options. If you hit Black Panther with them before the merge, your Symbiote will be huge.
- Odin and Wong exploit Symbiote Spider-Man’s Power. After the Symbiote and Panther merge, you will double the Power if you drop Odin or Wong.
If you position Odin opposite Arnim Zola’s character after copying the 56-Power Symbiote, effectively, you’ll end up with a pair of 112-Power cards.
How to Play Symbiote Spider-Man
In the Marvel Snap game, Symbiote Spider-Man is the first card to activate. To use his effect, you need to manually initiate it by clicking or long-pressing him when he’s on the battlefield. However, remember that Symbiote must have been present for at least one turn before you can unleash his power.
Keep these notes in mind when playing Symbiote Spider-Man:
You can shorten the sentence to:
- Symbiote Spider-Man’s effect follows the usual reveal pattern. If you Activate it after playing, say, Black Panther, it will wait for that card’s effect to go off before merging with it.
- Symbiote Spider-Man might target random cards. If two cards have the exact Cost, it will merge into one of them randomly.
- You can double Symbiote Spider-Man’s effect. But that is only possible if he absorbs an On Reveal or Ongoing card’s ability. (The base Activate ability is not repeatable.)
To stop Symbiote Spider-Man’s ability from taking effect, you can either reverse the current action of the turn or press and hold its card once more before the turn concludes.
How to Counter Symbiote Spider-Man
In the thrilling world of the Amazing Spider-Season, the Marvel Snap game doesn’t offer a straight equivalent to Activate cards. Yet, the present metagame is dominated by the Symbiote-Black Panther combo, transforming Symbiote Spider-Man into an On Reveal card. Similar to all On Reveal cards, he can be thwarted using Cosmo as a countermeasure. I, as a fan, always keep this in mind during my gameplay!
In the game, Shang-Chi is particularly strong against Symbiote Spider-Man, since activating his card usually surpasses ten power points. For more strategies to outmaneuver him, think about using Enchantress to manage persistent Symbiotes and Shadow King to reverse any buffs that Symbiote has received.
Is Symbiote Spider-Man Worth It?
The character Symbiote Spider-Man is one of the thrilling additions in the Marvel Snap game, definitely worth exploring. This figure brings a unique skill set, labeled as Activate, introducing an additional tactical dimension to the game experience. Moreover, he harmonizes exceptionally well with various Archetypes, making him a versatile option for many decks.
In the appraisal of Symbiote Spider-Man, Cozy Snap, who is among the top content creators in Marvel Snap, commented that it’s challenging not to assign a high score because of its all-encompassing ability and versatile compatibility with multiple deck setups.
