The much-anticipated PC release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 received mixed reactions from players due to numerous technical problems. The long-awaited sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales hit Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 30, but fans were dismayed to find that the game is plagued with crashes, visual bugs, and overall performance issues.
In 2022, both “Marvel’s Spider-Man” and “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales” enjoyed successful debuts on Steam, with the original title earning an impressive “overwhelmingly positive” rating. However, the latest addition to Insomniac Games’ popular series, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” had a somewhat unusual launch. Despite being announced for PC in October, neither Insomniac nor PlayStation provided updates on the port until its release. With no pre-orders and minimal marketing, fans of the franchise were left worried about the game’s PC version. Matters seem to have escalated for the sequel as it appears to be plagued with performance problems.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Players Aren’t Happy With PC Performance
The hardware needs for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 may differ based on what players expect from the game. Gamers seeking top-tier visuals with ray tracing activated should have an RTX 4090 coupled with either an i9-12900K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. However, even those with powerful hardware setups are facing challenges with the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. With more than 1,600 reviews since its launch on January 30, only 55% of player evaluations are positive, resulting in a “mixed” rating label on Steam. Many of the unfavorable reviews (some of which are visible below) assert that the game is plagued with graphical bugs and crashes, despite meeting the minimum system requirements.

Despite certain graphical and performance problems that will be addressed in an upcoming update, the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offers a host of unique features not available on the PlayStation 5. For instance, it boasts an unlocked frame rate for a more seamless experience beyond the standard 60 FPS, and advanced ray-tracing reflections make the already impressive visuals of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 even more stunning. Additionally, it supports various monitor aspect ratios such as 16:9, 16:10, 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9, as well as triple monitor setups using NVIDIA Surround or AMD Eyefinity for an expanded viewing experience.
The upcoming launch of “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” coincides with PlayStation revealing fresh in-game bonuses for PC users, marking an effort to appease players who have voiced concerns over the PSN account requirement in many of the publisher’s games. To encourage linking of PSN and Steam accounts for titles like “God of War Ragnarok”, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”, and “The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered”, rewards within the games are being offered. For instance, players who connect their PSN and Steam accounts in “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” can secure early access to the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit.
