Don’t expect to see much more of Marvel’s Wolverine at this week’s State of Play event. Insomniac Games has announced they’ll be sharing more about the PlayStation 5 game this spring. While other titles like Saros are likely to be featured on February 12th, Insomniac is holding back new trailers or updates for Wolverine, meaning fans will need to wait at least another month.
Honestly, waiting for Marvel’s Wolverine has felt almost as painful as the endless delays for Grand Theft Auto 6! I remember being so hyped when PlayStation and Insomniac first announced it back in 2021, alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We got Spider-Man 2 pretty quickly – just two years later – but it’s been five years since then, and I’ve been desperately wanting to play Wolverine. Thankfully, the September State of Play last year finally gave us a release window – 2026! I can’t believe it’s almost here.
Insomniac Shuts Down Marvel’s Wolverine Appearance at February State of Play
PlayStation fans have a new State of Play event to look forward to on February 12th. Sony has announced the broadcast will last over an hour and include gameplay updates and announcements from studios around the world. While many developers will be showcasing their work, Insomniac Games won’t be sharing anything new about Marvel’s Wolverine during the event. The studio recently told a fan on Twitter that more information on the game isn’t expected until Spring 2026, meaning it won’t be featured this week.
Insomniac Games has stated twice now that they won’t show their next game until Spring 2026, but rumors suggest we might see it at the February 12 State of Play. This speculation comes after the PlayStation Store briefly listed a release window for Marvel’s Wolverine – sometime between July and September of 2026. With Grand Theft Auto 6 scheduled for November, Sony and Insomniac might prefer to release Wolverine in September to avoid competing directly with it, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed.
Okay, so this event is going to be a long one – over an hour, which is pretty weird, so I’m expecting a lot of big announcements. We’re definitely going to see more on Marvel’s Wolverine, but don’t hold your breath for Starfield on PS5. A reliable source, Shinobi602, says Bethesda is planning its own reveal in March, not at this week’s State of Play. Basically, Starfield fans will have to wait a little longer.
With Microsoft increasingly releasing Xbox games on PlayStation 5, many players have been wondering if Starfield would follow suit. While Bethesda hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, recent rumors indicate they’re developing a significant 2.0 update that will probably coincide with the game’s release on PS5 later this year.
I’m not expecting to see big games like Marvel’s Wolverine or Starfield this week, but I am really excited about Housemarque’s new game, Saros! It’s coming out on PlayStation 5 on April 30, 2026. It’s a third-person roguelike where you play as Soltari Enforcer Arjun Devraj, voiced by Rahul Kohli, and it seems like they’re building on what they did with Returnal. The good news is it’s supposed to be a little easier this time around, with upgrades that stick with you and levels that aren’t completely random each time you play.
