Masashi Kishimoto Officially Confirms Boruto’s New Kekkei Genkai

Boruto Uzumaki is the main character of the Boruto series and has quickly become one of the world’s strongest ninjas. In recent story arcs, particularly Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, he’s shown incredible growth as a shinobi, potentially becoming the strongest of all. He’s now powerful enough to face threats like the Otsutsuki clan by himself, as demonstrated in his battle against the Shinju. Despite his strength, Boruto continues to train and push himself to become even more powerful so he can protect his friends and family.

I’ve been watching Boruto’s journey, and he keeps getting stronger with these new power-ups. Just recently, in Two Blue Vortex, something really significant happened: Boruto Uzumaki actually awakened the Byakugan, a powerful Kekkei Genkai! It’s taken his already impressive abilities to a whole new level.

Boruto Uzumaki Signed A Pact With Momoshiki Otsutsuki

From the start of the Two Blue Vortex arc, it was obvious that Boruto had become incredibly powerful. He easily overpowered Code, and even managed to hold his own against the Shinju. His fight with Hidari showed just how strong he’d become, nearly defeating him completely. With Naruto gone, Boruto was clearly the strongest ninja around, with only Kawaki posing as a potential match.

Even though Boruto was already quite strong, he wanted to be even more powerful. He realized he couldn’t defeat Jura in his current state, and a previous attempt against the Ten Tails had failed miserably. After fighting alongside Kawaki, he understood he still wasn’t strong enough. Therefore, Boruto decided to tap into the power of the inner demon he contained: Momoshiki Otsutsuki.

Recent events in the Boruto storyline revealed that Boruto managed to make a deal with Momoshiki Otsutsuki. Boruto offered to eventually let Momoshiki take over his body in exchange for help defeating the Shinju. Momoshiki, fascinated by this proposal, accepted and allowed Boruto to access his powers through the Karma mark. This explains why Boruto was able to use the Karma’s power for the first time during his fight with Mamushi, significantly boosting his abilities.

Boruto’s abilities allowed him to easily defeat Mamushi, attacking from directions Mamushi couldn’t anticipate. He’s clearly become much stronger, and his new sword gives him even more power.

Boruto Has Gained The Power Of The Byakugan

Boruto Uzumaki inherited the Byakugan, a powerful visual ability, after receiving power from Momoshiki. This ability, historically belonging to the Hyuga clan, lets the user see through anything and over vast distances instantly. It also allows them to clearly see a person’s chakra pathways and precisely target points to completely cut off their chakra flow.

The Byakugan is easily one of the strongest inherited abilities in the Boruto series, which explains why powerful characters like Kaguya and other members of the Otsutsuki clan also possess it. Currently, Boruto Uzumaki has this ability, and he demonstrated its impressive power during his fight with Mamushi.

Boruto’s Byakugan Is Incredibly Special

Boruto Uzumaki’s Byakugan is unique compared to others seen in the series. Standard Byakugan, like those possessed by the Hyuga clan, have limited abilities as initially shown. However, Byakugan belonging to the Otsutsuki clan have extra powers. For instance, Kinshiki Otsutsuki could use space-time ninjutsu with his, and Momoshiki was able to glimpse the future and even briefly stop time, through methods that remain a mystery.

Now that Boruto Uzumaki has the Byakugan inherited from Momoshiki, he should eventually be able to use all of its powers, though he hasn’t fully mastered them yet. If he does, his eye will be incredibly unique. There could even be hidden abilities within the Byakugan that no one knows about, and Boruto might be the one to unlock them. It would be exciting to see a main character with such a powerful eye technique. Fans are eager to see Boruto continue to develop, especially with the upcoming fight against Jira.

The Jougan Is Officially Non Canon In Boruto Now

The recent development of Boruto Uzumaki awakening the Byakugan resolves confusion surrounding his original inherited ability, the Jougan. When the Boruto anime started, many fans thought Boruto possessed a special, unique power called the Jougan. However, the current manga storyline reveals Boruto has instead awakened the Byakugan, effectively making the Jougan non-canon and irrelevant to the manga’s official story.

The Jougan is a power created for the anime series and isn’t part of the original Naruto manga. While some fans might wish it were, most agree that adding it to the established story would likely create more plot holes and inconsistencies, something that’s already been a concern for years.

Fans should remember that Boruto’s unique inherited ability is actually the Byakugan, and he’ll probably unlock its full potential later in the story. Now that Boruto has so many new powers, it’s time for him to demonstrate them against Jura and prove he can win.
