Gooding said of Campbell’s time as Sidney:

Look, that woman over there… It seems to me she’s a pioneer of the genre we’re fortunate to adopt in ‘Heart Eyes’, and that genre is the unique blend of two distinct moods, or as I like to put it, the concept of uniting two different tones.

It’s intriguing to listen to Gooding draw parallels between Scream 7 and Heart Eyes, as Christopher Landon, the writer for the latter, was initially set to direct Scream 7. However, Kevin Williamson is now taking the director’s chair for the sequel instead. The horror films by Landon and the Scream franchise both have a witty, somewhat playful humor and some over-the-top moments in common, as Gooding pointed out.

It’s clear that her portrayal, consistently intense and terrifying, is remarkable for its effortless grace and resilience. Each time we see her character on screen, it speaks volumes about the quality of her work as an actress.
