Although BioWare has announced their work on the upcoming installment of the Mass Effect series, referred to here as “Mass Effect 5”, specifics about its gameplay are yet to be disclosed.
Surprisingly, it appears that BioWare may have hinted at the comeback of the Paragon/Renegade system from Mass Effect 1 to 3, thanks to the keen observation of one dedicated Mass Effect fan.
Could This Mass Effect 5 Image Be Teasing the Paragon Symbol?
It appears that the image shares a resemblance with the Paragon symbol featured in earlier Mass Effect games. However, it’s also possible that this similarity is merely accidental.
It seems that the debate about the franchise’s morality system is intensified by the comments made by BioWare Executive Producer Mike Gamble. He stated that while many players opted for the Paragon role, he believes it wouldn’t have been significant if there was no Renegade choice available.
It’s possible that the classic Paragon vs. Renegade morality system might not return in the next Mass Effect game. While earlier games in the series had this system, the most recent mainline entry, Mass Effect Andromeda, replaced it with a “tone” system, offering four different choices: emotional, logical, casual, and professional.
In the games Mass Effect 1-3, players often have the option to pick between the Paragon or Renegade path during certain situations. The choices made can significantly impact the final outcome. Generally, if you tend to resolve conflicts in a peaceful manner, you might frequently go for the Paragon choice.
If your character, Commander Shepard, was growing weary of the constant hassles the universe was throwing at him/her (much like I found myself), then you’d opt for the Renegade path, where you handle situations according to your own rules. I can’t forget the time my Commander Shepard gave that pesky reporter a well-deserved punch! What a blast from the past!
Although details on the upcoming Mass Effect game are scarce, it has been confirmed by BioWare that the game will feature a photorealistic style, distinguishing it from their previous release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which had a different visual aesthetic.
Although we haven’t received a new Mass Effect game yet, you can still immerse yourself in the full space opera by grabbing the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. This collection includes all three games from the series, offering you an opportunity to relive the saga in its entirety. It’s a fantastic way to experience the epic!
ride, possibly BioWare’s finest work to date.
