Since the debut of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, there has been a gradual transition by BioWare’s team and enthusiasts towards their upcoming undertaking.
The highly acclaimed Mass Effect franchise, absent from the gaming world for an extended period, is creating anticipation among fans, who are eagerly waiting to see what happens next in its narrative. Despite BioWare occasionally offering tantalizing glimpses into the game’s development, they have had to scale back these teasers as the project progresses more intensely.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news straight from the horses’ mouth – BioWare! They’ve hinted at a shift in their approach, saying they’re “changing our methods.” While they’ve made it clear that their development team is smaller, they’re keeping most of their plans under wraps for now.
As a dedicated gamer immersed in the Mass Effect universe, I’m always striving to push the boundaries of what’s possible during game creation. This time around, between major development phases, I’ve decided to delve deep and rethink our approach at BioWare, with the ultimate goal of crafting an exceptional experience for you, our devoted fans.

Multiple developers who worked on the initial Mass Effect series, such as Mike Gamble, are highlighted as part of the development team for the upcoming Mass Effect game. Meanwhile, some other developers have been reassigned to different projects.
At this point in our progress, we don’t necessitate assistance from the entire studio. Instead, we boast an exceptionally talented team here at BioWare, and we have been proactive in connecting many of our colleagues with other EA teams that have suitable open positions for some time now.
BioWare’s wording seems to provide a few clues about the situation they are discussing. The term “agile,” which appears later in their statement, raises suspicions for some fans.
The Current State of Mass Effect Development At BioWare

Fans have responded to BioWare’s statement in a variety of ways, with many finding its language quite corporate. The notion of “restructuring” into a more “agile” model might resonate with you, given the recent wave of job cuts in the gaming industry.
The implication from fans is that the upcoming game might still be in its early stages of development, which isn’t surprising given the studio recently launched The Veilguard. However, since there have been hints about the next Mass Effect project for quite some time now, this unexpected early stage has taken a few fans by surprise.
In simpler terms, compared to what some other companies have done, like massive layoffs at various studios, this ‘restructuring’ doesn’t appear to be as devastating. Instead of losing jobs, employees are just being reassigned within the company, which could be a less severe situation.
