Massive Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion mod launches Day One on GOG with an easy one-click install process for everyone

This year, the official Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered from Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos was a fantastic release indeed. However, another trip to Cyrodil is imminent with the upcoming launch of Skyblivion. Developed by dedicated fans over numerous years, this comprehensive Skyrim mod reimagines Cyrodil with enlarged regions inspired by official concept art and restores cut features like Goblin Tribes.

In late 2025, the Skyblivion mod team will collaborate with GOG (Good Old Games) to launch their massive total conversion mod using GOG’s new one-click mod installation system. This innovative setup enables GOG to integrate mods directly into official games like DOOM 3, Skyrim and others. This means players can enjoy a seamless one-click install process that significantly enhances their gaming experience.

Skyblivion follows in Fallout London’s footsteps

Just like Fallout London, where users could easily download it directly from the store upon launch, players can expect an effortless one-click installation of The Elder Scrolls: Skyblivion when it becomes available, similar to a straightforward grab-and-go experience.

Absolutely, you’ll need to own The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to utilize this feature, and it’s important to note that one-click installation works with both GOG or Steam versions of the game. In fact, this is by far the most straightforward method for installing the game.

In conversation with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Kyle ‘Rebelzize’ Rebel, the project head of Skyblivion, expressed that they view this as a chance for even more players to enjoy the mod. Given GOG’s approach with Fallout London in VR, which is now accessible, this could potentially result in a similar impact.

Rebel stated that the goal is to spread Skyblivion far and wide, and GOG would be an excellent ally in achieving this. They plan to also distribute it independently, but they’re not confident their servers can match the stability of GOG’s.

As a die-hard fan of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, I’m thrilled about its facelift in Oblivion Remastered. Yet, the upcoming Skyblivion project promises an even richer gaming experience by adding additional features to the game. For me, it feels like getting two delicious cakes instead of one – the classic Oblivion and the tantalizing taste of what’s yet to come!
