Massive First Descendant Update Fixes Endgame Woes!

In a move to address player feedback, Nexon Games recently introduced an update for their game “The First Descendant,” focusing on enhancements to the Void Erosion Purge mechanic, a point of contention among players during Season 2. Some enthusiasts of “The First Descendant” voiced dissatisfaction with the endgame content, particularly expressing challenges with weapon mechanics and the difficulty of the Void Erosion Purge.

Regardless of the mixed response The First Descendant received on Steam, Nexon Games has persisted in enhancing the game, adding fresh features and content that entice players to return. This updated material encompasses novel Descendants and Ultimate Descendants, new weapons and equipment, along with new maps and modes such as the Void Erosion Purge. However, players have expressed dissatisfaction with the Void Erosion Purge because of underwhelming weapon power and bothersome enemy spawns that make the mode particularly challenging, even for groups of four players.

The latest update, hotfix 1.2.7 for season 2 of “The First Descendant,” is now live across all platforms. This update brings significant enhancements to the Void Erosion Purge feature. As confirmed in the patch notes by director Minseok Joo, issues with Void Erosion Purge were acknowledged and this update aims to improve overall gameplay experience while rectifying potential problematic aspects.

In this update, Elite Wardens possess fewer ranged abilities, and Normal and Elite Trackers no longer inflict the Chill status effect. Furthermore, monster spawns for stages 21 and onwards have been revamped to decrease enemy appearances for Farseers and Trackers. The challenge of Void Erosion Purge has been scaled back for single players, and Commander Monsters have been toned down for groups consisting of 2-4 players.

In the latest upgrade, the power of weapons in Void Erosion Purge significantly enhances, providing a more steady and dependable performance during intense shootouts and boss encounters. Additionally, ammunition drops have significantly increased, while the revised reward distribution system guarantees players a reasonable amount of rewards, even considering penalty durations. These modifications should greatly enhance the fun factor of Void Erosion Purge, but director Joo emphasizes that there are still areas requiring attention in upcoming updates for The First Descendant. The intention behind these changes is to boost numerous aspects within one of 2024’s top co-op games.

According to Joo, modifications for playable characters of “The First Descendant” and enhancements to the Void Erosion Purge will be made later. Currently, they are busy with the preparations for Season 2 Episode 2 of “The First Descendant” and other activities, which is why they couldn’t implement changes as swiftly as desired. Further information about these updates will be shared at a later time, and they are actively collecting feedback to fine-tune the Void Erosion Purge content in the future.

  • Public Operation is now available in stages 26 and 27 of Void Erosion Purge.
  • Changed the number of ranged skills of Elite Wardens from 8 to 3.
  • Removed the Chill status effect of Normal and Elite Trackers.
  • Changed the beam skills of Normal and Elite Farseers, Trackers, and Abominations so that the beam no longer rotates left or right as the target moves.
  • Changed the beam skill of the Commander monster Gruncah to slow down when it starts tracking a target.
  • Removed the guiding ability from the skills of Normal and Elite Annihilators and Living Artillery.
  • The drop rate of all tiers of General Rounds, Special Rounds, Impact Rounds, and High-Power Rounds has doubled compared to the previous rate.
  • Changed the reward distribution rules for Void Erosion Purge so that clear rewards are awarded upon completion of the mission regardless of the penalty duration.
  • Changed monster combinations and spawn patterns for Void Erosion Purge stages 21-30.
    • Reduced the spawn proportion of Suicide Bombers in stages 21/24/27 (5% → 1.7%)

  • Ines
    • The increase in the number of hits according to the Skill Range of Ines now changes when the Skill Range module is equipped.
      • Applied to the base skills Chain Lightning, Lightning Conductor, and Snare Hunter.
      • Applied to Floating Lightning of the skill module Time of the Hunting Hounds.
  • Keelan
    • The increase in the number of targets according to the Skill Range of Keelan now changes when the Skill Range module is equipped.
      • Applied to the base skill Void Corrosion.

Weapons & Modules

  • Fixed the brightness of Albion Cavalry Gun’s Ricochet effect being too bright in certain areas.
  • Made some improvements to the weapon stats and unique abilities of three Ultimate Weapons.
Ultimate Weapon Unique Ability Changes
The Last Dagger – Default Firearm ATK has been increased by about 29%. Hitting an enemy grants the Unique Abilities Patience and Lethal Dagger. ㄴ Lethal Dagger increases Critical Hit Rate per stack. Reloading when Patience is at max stacks resets Patience and grants the Strike effect. While Strike is in effect, shooting fires Enhanced Rounds. When Strike is removed, the Steps effect is granted that temporarily increases your Movement Speed.
Restored Relic When a Guided Round explodes, it creates multiple Cluster Rounds depending on its Enhancement Level. Cluster Rounds track to nearby enemies.
Sigvore’s Proof Damage dealt by Sticky Bombs increases proportionally to the number of Sticky Bombs installed.
  • The weapon slot in use no longer changes when moving between fields.
  • Increased Firearm ATK of some Rare weapons.

  • When all Descendants in the No Resurrection Zone are DNO, they will now be respawned.
    • The restart count will be deducted.
    • They will respawn at a location just before the No Resurrection Zone.

Descendants

  • Fixed an issue where the effect icons for Lepic’s Overclock, Power Unit Change, and Nerve Infiltration did not match the skill icons.
  • Partially fixed an issue where Luna’s notes were delayed.
    • Fixed an issue where the music and notes would get out of sync in certain situations by removing the problematic notes at regular intervals to resync them.

  • Fixed an issue where Auto-Equip for Descendant Modules would not proceed if the cursor was hovering over a Module slot by changing the key to a different button.
