In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, there are numerous locations to discover throughout your journey, whether you’re following the main storyline or roaming freely on the map. The open-world design means that once you’ve completed a few initial missions, all areas become accessible to you. This freedom lets you venture anywhere without worrying about level disparities.
Exploring and finding places like Shrines, Viewpoints, or Kuji-Kiri not only adds excitement but also awards additional XP, helping you level up quickly. Plus, avoiding unnecessary combat keeps the experience fair. Shrines, in particular, provide extra rewards upon discovery.
In the game Assassin’s Creed Shadows, each shrine offers a few places to pray. If you pray at all of these spots within a single shrine, you can either earn Knowledge Points or gain a Shrine bonus. The nature of this Shrine bonus varies depending on its location, but it often takes the form of temporary combat advantages such as increased armor penetration or similar enhancements. For those eager to claim these rewards, here’s a guide on locating each shrine in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Izumi Settsu Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
In the area known as Izumi Settsu, there are a pair of shrines found – making up its entirety. This zone is relatively straightforward for players starting their adventure as Naoe, due to the fact that the majority of the adversaries encountered here are comparable in strength to Naoe himself.
Sumiyoshi Shrine
The shrine can be found to the south of Osaka. If you head southward from the city center, you’ll come across the shrine before you get to the broad river encircling the city.
Nishinomiya Shrine
Navigate to the city of Amagasaki, located northwest of Izumi Settsu. Once there, travel westward. Prior to reaching the forest situated at Nakayama Peak, the shrine should become noticeable.
Harima Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Harima boasts four distinct shrines, three of which are nestled in the southern part of the area, not far from Izumi Settsu.
Takasago Shrine
As a gamer, I’d say: Journeying through the gaming world, head west from Amagasaki till you find yourself at a place resembling an island, encircled by rivers and the vast ocean. The first shrine is nestled in the heart of Kakogawa Estuary, right down south.
Ishinohoden Shrine
Heading northwest from the Kakogawa Estuary, you’ll eventually come across the Ishinohoden Shrine nestled deep within a forest, just before reaching the city of Himeji.
As you travel northwest from the Kakogawa Estuary, the Ishinohoden Shrine, located in the heart of a forest, can be found prior to arriving at the city of Himeji.
Itatehyozy Shrine
This shrine, known as Itatehyozy, is situated on the periphery of Himeji, which is the largest city in Harima. If you travel west from Ishinohoden Shrine and cross the bridge, you’ll be able to spot Itatehyozy Shrine before entering the gates of Himeji, prior to reaching the city itself.
Kaya Shrine
The northernmost sanctuary of the area is situated near Mount Kasagata’s western base, and it lies to the west prior to crossing the river that flows from north to south.
Tamba Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
As a gamer, I find that Kii and Tamba are among the most advanced regions within our game world. What makes these areas unique is that they house shrines, which are sanctuaries free from hostile creatures. This means that adventuring in them earlier on doesn’t require much risk-taking. In fact, there are two such tranquil havens nestled in Tamba itself!
Atago Shrine
As a fervent admirer, I can share my personal journey to the enchanting Atago Shrine. Nestled in the eastern expanse of Tamba, it lies just shy of the Yamashiro border. To reach this spiritual haven, one must traverse northward from the city of Kameyama and gracefully cross a river that marks the boundary between our realms.
Onitake Shrine
The Ontiake Shrine, positioned to the north of Tamba, lies next to the highway linking Fukuchiyama and Miyazu Bay. You could say it’s nearly right in the center of that route.
Yamashiro Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Situated to the north of Izumi and right in the center on our map, Yamashiro is a welcoming region, ideal for various levels of explorers. This area boasts three temples strategically placed near the city of Kyoto.
Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine
The shrine can be found to the west of Ogura Pond, which lies on an island situated southward in Yamashiro. This island is encircled by water. Players can effortlessly locate it by tracing the large river flowing towards the north within Izumi.
Gion Shrine
Go straight to the center of Kyoto, then proceed towards the eastern part. Cross the river, and you’ll find Gion Shrine situated on a hill near the main road. The shrine is located to the northwest of the Hills of Meeting.
Kamigamo Shrine
The Kamigamo Shrine is located to the north of Kyoto, with a large bridge departing from the city’s northern gate guiding players directly towards it.
Yamato Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Four shrines can be found within Yamato; three of these are situated in the northern area, while the fourth is nestled in the southern part.
Hinode Shrine
The shrine is situated near the boundary with Yamashiro. You’ll find it northeast of Todaiji, following the river crossing.
Kasugataisha Shrine
This particular shrine, situated southeast of Todaiji, is quite substantial in size. Its grandeur is such that it’s hard for players to overlook it.
Omiwa Shrine
Heading towards the central part of the region, just south-east of Nara’s core area, you will discover the serene Omiwa Shrine nestled amidst a forest’s woodlands.
Niukawakami Shrine
In the southeastern part of Yamato lies the most significant shrine of the region, situated beneath the largest river here. Although this shrine can be found northeast of Yoshino, it’s important to note that it does not border the river.
Iga Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Naoe hails from and spent his childhood in a place that has since been taken over by the troops of Oda Nobunaga. Interestingly, Iga houses not just one but two shrines, which are quite near to each other.
Aekuni Shrine
The shrine can be found nestled within the northern portion of the village of Ichinomiya, which itself lies to the north of the broader region and to the southwest of Mibuno Vale.
Kasuga Shrine
Heading just a bit to the north from Aekuni Shrine will guide you towards Kasuga Shrine. This religious site lies to the west of Mibuno Valley and shares its borders with a broad, flowing river.
Omi Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The picturesque Lake Biwa is not only home to its stunning beauty but also houses two nearby shrines.
Shirahige Shrine
This shrine is situated near the river that flows alongside the main road, with the Ado River Valley lying to its south and the lake being positioned to its west. It’s nearly on the banks of the river.
Nagahama Hachimangu Shrine
Travel north from Nagahama city, which lies north of the lake, and continue moving slightly further north. You’ll find a large shrine nestled past the farmlands and surrounded by trees.
Wakasa Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Although Wakasa occupies a significant portion on the map, it surprisingly boasts just two rather diminutive shrines.
Wakasahiko Shrine
1. Locate the city named Obama on the west coast, then travel towards the south. The sanctuary can be found nestled between the two rivers that originate in the south and flow into Obama.
or
2. To reach your destination, first find the town called Obama on the western shore. Then head southward. You’ll encounter the sacred site situated amidst the two rivers that start from the southern part and empty themselves into Obama.
Jogu Shrine
To reach the city at the most northerly point of Sotomo Gate in Wakasa, proceed there first, then follow the northern coastline as it bends northwest until you come across the entrance to Jogu Shrine.
Starting from Sotomo Gate’s northernmost city in Wakasa, keep going along the northern shore and head northwest when you reach that direction, until eventually you find the entrance to Jogu Shrine.
Kii Shrine Locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
In the game ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’, the region of Kii stands out as being particularly affluent with regards to shrines. This region boasts a total of six shrines, some of which are impressively large.
Tokei Shrine
The Tokei Shrine can be found to the south of our area, nestled nearby is a quaint coastal village. This village lies between the shores of Sazae Oni and the Nakahechi Route. The Tokei Shrine itself is situated northeast of this picturesque coastal village.
Takahara Kumano Shrine
The temple you’re looking for stands at the south gateway of the village along the Nakahechi Path. Since the path’s nameboard marks its location precisely, it’s impossible to overlook it.
Kumano Hongu Taisha
In the captivating landscape of Kii, nestled amidst an island-like expanse, lies a breathtaking shrine that I have the privilege to admire. Positioned eastward from Koyasan and northwest of Kumano Sanzan, this grand sanctuary is a marvelous sight to behold. Surrounded by meandering rivers, it stands as a spiritual beacon, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its serene beauty.
Kumano Nachi Taisha
Heading towards the east-southeast from Kumano Sanzan, you will come across a rather large shrine before you reach the coastline. Although it’s skillfully concealed amidst the foliage, this shrine should not be difficult to spot.
Kamikura Shrine
As a gamer traversing the scenic landscapes of Kii, I’d guide you towards the diminutive yet captivating Kamikura Shrine. Nestled on the eastern coast, it might not be right beside the vast ocean, but its proximity is quite intimate. Simply journey east from Kumano Sanzan, then veer north before the ocean comes into view, and there you’ll find this enchanting shrine.
Kumano Hayatama Taisha
As a devotee, I can’t help but share my excitement about the grandest sanctum in our region – the Kumano Hayatama Taisha. Notably, it’s merely a short journey northward from the Kamikura Shrine. If you follow a direct path northwards, you’ll find yourself standing before this magnificent structure. It’s nestled beside a mighty river that flows from the ocean, making it an even more captivating sight. Trust me, it’s hard to overlook this colossal shrine for any player seeking spiritual enrichment in our region!
