Maximum Entertainment’s independent football game, Maximum Football, has revealed the release date for its much-anticipated Franchise Mode.
Maximum Football’s Franchise Mode will be available on all platforms starting December 9th, according to a new video released on Monday.
This game mode is part of the $40 Legend Pass and was initially intended to launch with the game’s 1.0 version. However, its release was postponed to allow for more refinement and the addition of extra features.
Maximum Football is now available for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. Thanks to Maximum Entertainment, you can explore the game’s full features, including Exhibition mode, the Maximum Pro League (where you collect cards), and a simplified version of Dynasty mode, among other things.
The $20 “Dynasty Premium Access” version of the game gives you full access to Dynasty Mode. Both Dynasty and Franchise modes are also included with the Legend Pass.

College and Pro Football in One Game
The best part of Maximum Football is the ability to connect your Dynasty team to Franchise mode, creating a smooth transition between college and pro leagues.
When you first set up your league, you’ll link it to one of your existing Dynasties. Any player from that Dynasty who graduates automatically becomes available in the draft for your Franchise. No matter how far into the future you play, your Franchise will always correctly identify players from the appropriate graduating class when the draft happens.
Note: Each Dynasty can only be connected to one Franchise.
Franchise League Setup
Franchise mode gives you complete freedom to customize your experience. It begins with a detailed League Setup, offering more options than any other football game franchise mode.
Choose your league size:
- 32 teams: The classic pro setup.
- 8 teams: A compact league inspired by spring football.
- 12 teams: A nod to the 80s pro football.
- 16 or 24 teams: Fully fictional formats for players who want to get creative.
After you select how many teams will be in your league, you can further organize things by setting up conferences and divisions to build the exact league experience you want.
You’ll also have full control over game and rule settings, including:
- Overtime format
- Kickoff type
- Hashmark width
- Number of feet required for a catch
- Ball type (Line or No Line)
- 2-point conversion yard line
- Down-by-contact rules
- PAT distance
- Scoring values for touchdowns and safeties
- Two-minute warning behavior
- Quarter length, play clock, and acceleration rates
- Fair catch
Once everything is set up, you can add your own teams, arrange your league, and hire coaches to start playing.

Stadium Management
Franchise mode brings a new layer of depth to stadium management.
Every team starts with a home stadium that you can improve over time, rather than build a new one. As you upgrade your stadium, you’ll gain access to new things to sell, which will increase your income and keep your fans happy.
You’ll be able to set different prices for different types of tickets – like general admission, better seats, and luxury suites. Naturally, better seats will cost more. Finding the right balance between ticket prices and how many people attend will be crucial to making the most money.
New Staff Roles
Franchise mode now features new management positions that will affect how well your team performs, both in games and as an organization.
- Marketing Director – Secures sponsorships and promotional deals. Each sponsor offers unique contracts based on your performance and fit. A skilled marketing director unlocks the most profitable opportunities.
- Team Doctor – Manages player health and recovery. The higher your doctor’s expertise, the more accurate your weekly injury reports and recovery timelines will be.
- Accountant – Oversees budgets, upgrades, and the salary cap. A top-tier accountant helps you find cheaper facility upgrades and keeps your team financially healthy throughout the season.
Together, these roles bring authenticity and depth to the business side of running a team.
Coaching Staff
Franchise mode is getting a more in-depth coaching system. Every team will now have a Head Coach, an Offensive Coordinator, and a Defensive Coordinator. Each coach will have unique stats, preferred strategies, and will affect how your team plays.
Every week, your staff delivers:
- Offensive and defensive scouting reports on your upcoming opponent.
- Preparation bonuses that temporarily boost player attributes.
- Weekly development summaries highlighting which players improved.
A team of people who work well together and have skills that complement each other will achieve results more quickly.

Roster Management
In Franchise mode, you can improve your team’s players through three main methods: signing free agents, trading with other teams, and participating in the draft.
Free Agency
As a big Maximum Football fan, I’ve learned that every free agent comes with a price – they all have a contract value in mind based on how well they play, how old they are, and what everyone thinks of them. It’s up to me as the GM to try and sign them without completely wrecking my team’s salary cap! It’s a fun balancing act figuring out what they want and what I can actually afford.
Players evaluate offers based on:
- Total contract value
- Length and guaranteed money
- Team prestige and culture
- Competing offers
- Market demand
You’ll get quick responses to your offers during the offseason. However, during the season, it might take longer – sometimes weeks – for players to make a decision as they consider all their choices.
Trading
The new trading system adds a layer of strategy and makes things more realistic. You can trade players and draft picks, but the AI is smart – it carefully considers every offer you make. Here are some of the things it takes into account:
- Player overall and age
- Contract length and morale
- Team depth at that position
- Injury history
- Whether teams share a division (in 16–32 team leagues)
Okay, so I’ve learned the hard way that if I keep lowballing people in trades, they’re gonna get fed up and just stop talking to me for a while. It’s like, these other players remember how I treat them, so I need to think long-term and build good relationships if I want to get good deals down the road. Basically, don’t burn bridges!
Drafting
At the end of every offseason, you’ll conduct the Pro Draft.
If your Franchise is part of a Dynasty, your draft will feature players graduating from college that year. Otherwise, the game creates a draft class for you. Players who aren’t drafted will become free agents.
