Meet SAKAMOTO DAYS’ Deadly New Villains: 4 Death Row Killers Ready to Cause Chaos!

Summary

  • Death Row Prisoners enter the scene, serial killers with unique MOs and high body counts.
  • Wutang’s underworld info leads to the revelation of 4 fugitive convicts now in Japan.
  • Criminals who love to kill are hired to kill Sakamoto and his crew.

In several aspects, the concluding episode of the initial season of the anime based on Yuto Suzuki’s SAKAMOTO DAYS didn’t deliver the anticipated climactic punch. Nevertheless, it wasn’t just a filler episode without merit. Following Lu Wutang’s rescue from the mafia and his integration into the main group, the ex-consigliere discloses that he is unsure about the identity of “Slur,” but shares with Sakamoto four death row prisoners who might have evaded justice, hinting that these convicts could now be present in Japan.

Without any delay, let’s dive right into the topic: Four notorious criminals, each responsible for hundreds of murders, and all possessing unique methods of operation. Who are these individuals, and what are their objectives?

Introducing the Death Row Prisoners

The Eccentricity of SAKAMOTO DAYS Characters On Full Display Once More

In episode 11 of “SAKAMOTO DAYS,” Wutang shares with his companions that one of his contacts in the underworld, a corpse dealer, had informed him about four mysterious and grisly murders happening across Japan. One victim was found completely skinned, another was compacted into a tiny form, yet another had multiple holes, and the last one was completely gutted. It’s later revealed that there were four convicts on death row in a maximum-security prison somewhere in Southeast Asia who supposedly completed their sentences, but the distinctive methods of killing suggested they somehow managed to fake their deaths and escape from prison. As Wutang described these chilling incidents, the series introduces the culprits.

  • Dump, a young woman with brown skin, short white hair, and an eight-pointed star tattoo on her neck. She has 108 victims (and counting), and her crimes include murder, armed robbery and the illegal disposal of bodies. She has a sadistic streak and a warped sense of aesthetics, believing that people are their most beautiful when they’re about to die, but once she kills them, she considers them ugly.
  • Saw, a man with hair gelled into a topspike, and a van Dyke. His crimes include murder, armed robbery, mutilation and the illegal disposal of bodies. He has 64 victims so far.
  • Apart, a nervous mess of a man who seems incredibly timid, but has over 200 murder victims. His crimes include kidnapping, mutilation and, of course, murder. He is by far the most unsettling of the four given his timidity and clear obsessiveness, which is put on display when he laments coming to Japan and wishes he could die because WcDonald’s staff put pickles on his burger.
  • Minimalist, the hilariously codenamed killer who is absolutely huge, towering over most people. His killing method is the most obvious: he crushes people into neat little balls. He has the highest kill count, with 370 kills so far.

1. The criminals didn’t seem to care about blending in or staying low-profile, as demonstrated by their casual meetings with Kashima at a well-known establishment like McDonald’s.

2. Kashima was instructed by “X” to hire these condemned prisoners, who were tasked with assassinating Sakamoto and his associates.

3. Despite being someone who cherishes life, Kashima found it distasteful to associate with such rough individuals, whose only pleasure seemed to be in taking lives without remorse.

This situation becomes evident as the four suspected killers depart, with Minimalist informing Kashima that they will complete their tasks within a month and require a new list of targets by then. Failure to deliver could lead to chaos in Japan. The names of these killers may be related to their chosen methods, with Minimalist being the most straightforward, while “Dump” is the least clear. It’s speculated that Apart dismembers his victims (perhaps searching for more pickles), while Saw is likely responsible for flaying them, leaving Dump to carry out the remaining method: perforation.

Excuse me, I need to disassemble you.

Wheeew, that’s better! Now I can make sense of you!

After all, it’s what’s inside a person that matters!

The Sakamoto Response

Back to the Video Rental For Reconaissance

When they learn that dangerous killers are pursuing them, the Sakamoto family quickly decides to gather as much information as possible about these adversaries, preparing themselves to confront them. They visit a video rental store, where Sakamoto had obtained details regarding the Dondenkai, and select a movie from the psychological horror section to enhance their understanding of their new foes.

The video offers a distinct portrayal of each character’s modus operandi, as well as delving into the twisted mental states not only of Apart, but also other death row inmates. Although some viewers might have been let down by the initial season of SAKAMOTO DAYS, expecting a more groundbreaking animation production, the subsequent seasons are bound to be much more intense than the first.

SAKAMOTO DAYS is available on Netflix. The next cours is set to air in July.
