Naruto Uzumaki is considered one of the most powerful ninjas in the entire Naruto series. He began as a relatively weak ninja, but through hard work and determination, he ultimately became the strongest by the end of the original story. Even in the Boruto series, Naruto remains incredibly strong, and has continued to grow even more powerful, demonstrated by abilities like Baryon Mode.
Recently in the Boruto series, Naruto Uzumaki appears much weaker than before. Several new ninja – actually, four so far – have become stronger than he is. While surprising to many fans, this change in Naruto’s power level is the reason other characters have been able to surpass him.
Sasuke Uchiha
- Kekkei Genkai: Mangekyo Sharingan
- Special Ability: Amaterasu/Kagutsuchi
Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto are rivals, but also close friends. The creator of the series, Kishimoto, always intended them to be equally strong, and they were at the start of the Boruto storyline. However, Naruto became more powerful when he achieved Baryon Mode. Shortly after, both lost significant abilities: Naruto lost his connection to Kurama, and Sasuke lost his Rinnegan.
Initially, it seemed like Naruto and Sasuke were equals. But after Naruto was sealed away, Sasuke dedicated himself to intense training in preparation for battles against the Otsutsuki clan. While he also mentored Boruto, official sources confirm Sasuke continued to hone his own skills as well.
The impact of their training was immediately clear in the fight at Two Blue Vortex. Sasuke Uchiha had grown powerful enough to fight on equal footing with Code, who was supported by several Claw Grimes. Notably, Sasuke managed to take one of Code’s eyes – a significant feat considering Code was believed to be even stronger than Jigen.
Sasuke wasn’t able to land a hit on Jigen, even when using his Rinnegan. Since Naruto hadn’t been training, and Sasuke had, it’s clear Sasuke was the more powerful of the two at that point.
Kawaki
- Kekkei Genkai: Kokugan
- Special Ability: Daikokuten, Sukunahikona
I’m a huge Boruto fan, and honestly, Kawaki is a standout character – easily one of the strongest! After Isshiki’s passing, he got this incredible power boost. It’s all thanks to Amado, who managed to get the Karma seal placed on Kawaki again. But this wasn’t the Karma that Isshiki used – this one’s specifically for Kawaki, designed to empower him alone. It’s a really cool development that sets him apart!
Kawaki has spent years mastering his abilities. Following the time skip in the Boruto series, his Kekugan is now fully developed, and his power as someone who wields Otsutsuki energy has grown tremendously. Currently, Kawaki’s strength is likely comparable to that of Isshiki Otsutsuki, which is a remarkable feat.
Considering Naruto no longer has Kurama’s power, it’s not surprising that Kawaki is now stronger.
Boruto Uzumaki
- Kekkei Genkai: Byakugan
- Special Ability: Karma, Rasengan: Uzuhiko
Similar to Kawaki, Boruto Uzumaki has become incredibly powerful throughout the series. Although he wasn’t very strong at first, becoming a vessel for Momoshiki marked the start of a difficult path. Ultimately, Boruto awakened a great amount of power through his Karma.
Beyond his regular training, Boruto spent a year learning directly from Sasuke Uchiha, mastering all of Sasuke’s unique techniques. He also trained with Kashin Koji, who used his ability to see into different timelines to help Boruto reach his full potential. As a result, the current Boruto is considered the most powerful version of himself across all possible realities.
Boruto demonstrated his strength by easily defeating Code, even without relying on his Karma. He’s become powerful enough to compete with incredibly strong beings like the Shinju. When he fully activates his Karma, as he did recently, Boruto’s power reaches a level where he can potentially fight opponents as formidable as Jigen and even members of the Otsutsuki clan.
It’s a tough pill to swallow for some, but currently, Boruto has a power level exceeding that of Naruto. This doesn’t mean Boruto is stronger than Naruto ever was at his absolute peak, but present-day Naruto would likely be defeated by him.
It’s amazing to think Boruto Uzumaki hasn’t even reached his peak yet. He still has another level of the Karma mark to unlock, meaning he’s only going to get stronger. By the end of the series, it’s quite possible he’ll become even more powerful than Naruto in Baryon Mode, which is a little frightening! He’s incredibly talented, and for good reason.
Sarada Uchiha
image by Manga Plus - Kekkei Genkai: Mangekyo Sharingan
- Special Ability: Ohirume
Sarada Uchiha, Sasuke’s daughter, is another young ninja who has quickly become as strong, or even stronger, than Naruto. While she already had incredible visual abilities and mastered the Sharingan after a two-year training period, she’s recently pushed her skills even further.
Sarada recently activated her Mangekyo Sharingan, unlocking a new ability that surpasses even Naruto’s strength. This power, called Ohirume, is exceptionally strong, giving her control over gravity using miniature black holes.
Sarada is capable of generating up to four black holes, and the larger these black holes become, the more powerful their gravity is. This gravity is incredibly strong – strong enough to instantly destroy even the Shinju, beings confirmed to be more powerful than Code.
I’ve been watching Sarada, and this is just one of the incredible things her Mangekyo Sharingan can do. I have a strong feeling she’ll unlock even more abilities, and everyone’s really excited to see her Susanoo appear – it’s going to be amazing!
While Naruto is powerful, he still relies heavily on Kurama in battle. Sarada, on the other hand, is constantly improving, and there’s a possibility she’ll develop even greater abilities with her eyes as the Boruto series progresses. She’s a character with huge potential, and considering she’s destined to become the next Hokage, it makes sense that she’ll eventually exceed Naruto’s strength.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the continuation of the Boruto story, created by Mikio Ikemoto and overseen by Masashi Kishimoto. Set three years after a major event called Omnipotence, the series follows Boruto Uzumaki as he strives to protect the world and navigate his relationship with his brother, Kawaki. Chapter 30 is scheduled to be released on January 20, 2026, at 10 AM EST / 3 PM UTC. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
