Meet the Resident Evil Villains Who Can’t Stand Jill Valentine!

Summary

  • Jill Valentine had few personal connections with antagonists, but those who held grudges tried to eliminate her.
  • Characters like Excella Gione, Nikolai Zinoviev, Maria Gomez, and Dylan Blake targeted Jill for various reasons.
  • From being a puppet of Wesker to facing personal vendettas, Jill Valentine faced numerous threats and challenges.

Although Jill Valentine initially appeared in the first “Resident Evil” game and played an unforgettable role as the Nemesis’s target in “Resident Evil 3”, she hasn’t had many opportunities to develop deeper relationships with other antagonists within the series. Notably, Jill was manipulated by Albert Wesker himself, which led her briefly to side with the antagonists before eventually returning to the good side – a shift that significantly impacted her character, particularly evident in the “Death Island” movie.

Since it’s speculated that Jill could be one of the main characters in Resident Evil 9, revisiting her backstory seems intriguing, particularly her role in the events leading up to Umbrella Corporation’s closure. Unfortunately for Jill, she has encountered few antagonists who harbored personal vendettas against her; however, those who did went to great lengths to erase her from existence. Who were these adversaries?

6. Excella Gione

Jill Was Just A Puppet To Be Used

First Appearance Resident Evil 5
Reason For Hate Couldn’t care less about Jill’s status as being stripped of her will by Wesker.
Status Deceased

After the collapse of Umbrella Corporation due to the catastrophic Raccoon City Incident, Albert Wesker held onto whatever research he had on Umbrella’s T-Virus Project and approached Excella Gione, a genetic engineer who owned a small portion of Tricell Incorporated. With Umbrella’s downfall and Wesker’s support, Excella had risen to become the regional director of Tricell Inc., Africa. Their work on the T-Abyss Project culminated in the establishment of a bio-weapons facility within the Kijuju Autonomous Zone, where they saw significant success until the Biohazardous Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) discovered their operations.

An essential aspect of Excella’s connection with Jill lies in her indifferent attitude towards Jill being turned into a puppet by the P30 drug. Though Excella doesn’t harbor direct hostility towards the Resident Evil protagonist, she wasn’t above exploiting her for her own purposes. Excella didn’t value or concern herself with Jill’s condition or actions, as long as they didn’t hinder her objectives. Despite limited interactions between Excella and Jill in Resident Evil 5, the fact that Excella showed no interest in Jill’s situation under Wesker’s control suggests she virtually overlooked her humanness.

5. Nikolai Zinoviev

Jill Was An Obstacle In His Mission

First Appearance Resident Evil 3
Reason For Hate Jill is a wildcard in the Raccoon City Destruction Incident
Status Unknown

In the wake of the recent virus disaster in Raccoon City, the Umbrella Corporation mobilized its Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service with the intention of eradicating zombies and safeguarding civilians. However, Nikolai Zinoviev harbored a different agenda – namely, to assess the power of the T-Virus, conceal Umbrella’s role in the outbreak, and monitor the Nemesis T-02 as it pursued Jill Valentine. Though Nikolai initially gives the impression of being an ally to Jill, it becomes clear that her survival is of little concern to him.

It’s true that there was an opportunity given to Nikolai to kill Jill Valentine and receive a reward. But since a dangerous BOW creature is chasing her instead, he’s content to let Nemesis handle it for him. The games don’t reveal his ultimate fate; he either manages to flee or perishes during the city’s demolition.

4. Maria Gomez

Hates Jill By Association, Given Her Part In Her Organization

First Appearance Resident Evil: Vendetta
Reason For Hate Hate by relation, as Jill is a part of the BSAA – one of the parties responsible for her father’s death
Status Deceased

During Glenn Arias’s wedding, a CIA bombing ensued, leaving survivors including Diego, his daughter, and Maria Gomez, as well as Glenn himself, vowed revenge against the entities disrupting their biological weapons transactions. With Diego becoming mute and relying on the Animality Virus to live, Maria volunteered for extensive physical and mental upgrades to excel in the trade of bioweapons. Tragically, an encounter with Leon and the BSAA resulted in Glenn merging with Diego, a fate that eventually claimed their lives.

Ever since then, Maria harbored a grudge against Leon and the entities linked with him, including the BSAA. Now teaming up with Dylan Blake, who took over Glenn’s assets and objective, Maria is ready to follow his orders whenever it leads to revenge. During a subsequent clash, Jill found herself facing off against Maria, who appeared irritated that an unaugmented Jill could hold her own in combat. Despite being killed by Leon, Maria’s intention to eliminate Jill as a symbol of her anger underscores the intensity of her animosity towards Jill and her allies.

3. Dylan Blake

Wants Jill To Be Disillusioned To The World As A Fellow Operative

First Appearance Resident Evil: Death Island
Reason For Hate Hated Leon for being a pawn of the government despite coverups
Status Deceased

While originally just a member of Umbrella Secret Service tasked to evacuate prominent figures in Raccoon City, Dylan Blake becomes the witness to his unit’s turning into zombies and eventual death. This broke him, driving him to instability and having suicidal tendencies, to the point of being a moral nihilist and being disillusioned towards people of power. In the events of Death Island, it’s revealed he took over the bioterrorism operations of Glenn Arias, having bioengineered mosquitoes to deliver a targetable version of the T-Virus that doesn’t infect others – only select individuals.

In summary: The individual’s plan involves creating enough suspicion about a certain project, with the aim of involving key figures such as Leon Kennedy, the Redfield siblings, and Jill Valentine (all believed to be pawns in the hands of those in power) in his laboratory located on Alcatraz. He intends to carry out a “reset” of the population by killing these agents along with unnecessary government personnel. Although he holds no personal animosity towards Jill, he wants her to go through the ordeal of having to kill her infected colleagues as a means of psychological manipulation. This was particularly challenging for Jill, given that she had previously been brainwashed by Albert Wesker.

2. Albert Wesker

Jill Is A Constant Threat To His Plans

First Appearance Resident Evil
Reason For Hate Jill constantly thwarts his plans
Status Deceased

During the events of the first Resident Evil game, the STARS team who investigated the Spencer Mansion were split apart with the constant threat of the undead pursuing them. And when it’s revealed that it’s actually Albert Wesker who wanted to lead his own STARS teammates to their inevitable demise, the sunglasses-toting mastermind was certainly surprised to learn that both Jill and Chris Redfield managed to survive his trap. This proved to be rather problematic for his conquest of ultimate power, as their presence meant having skilled operatives being on top of any bioterror missions he planned to conduct.

In the course of a critical operation, the BSAA’s mission results in the capture of Jill Valentine. Instead of discarding her, Wesker decides to use her as an agent under his control. To him, a valuable asset like Jill should not be squandered; even though she was once an adversary, he keeps her at bay knowing that it would be simple to eliminate her if required. Although Wesker has grander global schemes to attend to, Jill is still a bother, and he intends to invest time and energy into removing her from the equation, ensuring his own plans remain unhindered by others.

1. Nemesis T-Type

Eliminating Jill Is Its Mission

First Appearance Resident Evil 3
Reason For Hate Assigned to kill Jill as part of its directive
Status Deceased

In the universe of Resident Evil, no character seems more determined to make life miserable for Jill Valentine than the Nemesis T-Type. Originating as an upgrade from the initial Tyrant seen in Resident Evil 2, this formidable creature in Resident Evil 3 is not only stronger and durable but also programmed – with its primary objective being the eradication of all STARS Survivors. During the Raccoon City Destruction Incident, this directive led to a relentless pursuit of Jill Valentine, as seen throughout the gameplay of Resident Evil 3.

The terrifying character of Nemesis, serving as Jill’s relentless adversary, affects not only the survivors of STARS but also gamers in general. Rooms could unexpectedly host encounters with Nemesis, and even defeating the Tyrant in a random confrontation merely postpones his return. Despite not having any inherent hostility towards Jill, Nemesis being designed to pursue her is analogous to how prejudice can be cultivated in others through conditioning.
