Metal Gear Solid Delta Fans Outraged Over Costly DLC Controversy!

Summary

  • Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater DLC pack sparks concerns among players.
  • The Sneaking DLC pack includes 6 costumes, 2 face options, and 2 masks.
  • Some users are concerned that more costumes will be locked behind a paywall, but others note that these costumes were not included in the original game.

Fans of the reimagined version of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater have expressed some apprehension following Konami’s announcement of a Digital Deluxe edition featuring an optional paid DLC pack with extra outfits for Naked Snake. This new iteration of the game, set to be released as a ground-up remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, will not involve the series’ original creator, Hideo Kojima. Despite this, Konami has emphasized numerous times that they intend to remain faithful to the source material. However, the introduction of a new DLC pack has sparked concerns among some fans regarding the commitment to authenticity.

Following an early online leak, Konami officially announced during the February 2025 State of Play event that the release date for the remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has been set for August 28, 2025. This eagerly awaited title will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. In addition to a fresh trailer, a new post on the PlayStation website unveiled more information about the game. Konami has mentioned that most of the original Easter eggs are still present, alongside additional new features like instant camo changes and the option to switch between a third-person perspective or the classic viewpoint, mirroring the camera and controls from the original version.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Fans Are “Concerned” Over Paid DLC

Following the announcement of its release date, Konami has started taking pre-orders for the game “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater”. However, some fans have expressed concern over the costumes being locked behind paid DLC in the Digital Deluxe version. Specifically, a Reddit user named SolidPeaks mentioned they are “a bit worried” about this additional expense, as the Sneaking DLC pack includes six uniforms, two face options, and two masks. Although it seems that the DLC can be bought separately, it’s also included in the Digital Deluxe edition, which costs $79.99 USD, compared to the Standard edition at $69.99 USD. Additionally, a Collector’s Edition for “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” was unveiled last year, which includes the Digital Deluxe edition.

The initial poster didn’t directly criticize Konami for placing these costumes behind a paywall, acknowledging that such practices are becoming more prevalent. However, they expressed their worry that additional costumes might also be locked away, not just the ones from the Sneaking DLC pack. Other users pointed out that the costumes in the DLC weren’t originally part of the game, meaning that players will still have access to the best camos from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in Delta.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater,” which was initially unveiled in 2023. However, contrary to expectations, it wasn’t scheduled for release in 2024 as previously announced. Instead, Konami has confirmed that fans will have to wait a bit longer. Those who choose to pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition of the “Metal Gear Solid 3” remake will not only get their hands on the Sneaking DLC pack but will also gain early access to the game, making its official launch date August 26, 2025.
