Summary
- Snake Eater Xbox Series X/S port features Bomberman.
- Bomberman added as Sony owns Ape Escape.
- Xbox gamers will have an exclusive Bomberman minigame in Metal Gear Solid Delta.
The version of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater for Xbox Series X/S has changed the Ape Escape mini-game to one featuring a well-known character from Konami.
In the original PlayStation 2 release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, there was a mini-game called “Snake vs. Monkey” where Big Boss faced off against characters from the Ape Escape series. However, this mini-game posed problems during the ports and remasters of Snake Eater since Sony holds the rights to Ape Escape. As a result, any multi-platform versions had to remove the “Snake vs. Monkey” mini-game due to these ownership issues.
On August 28, 2025, there’s an upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater available on multiple platforms. Initially, some fans speculated that the classic battle between Snake and Monkey might be missing from this version, but a leaked trailer during the February 2025 State of Play event hinted at its inclusion in the game.
After the State of Play event concluded, Konami shared a trailer on their YouTube channel, which hinted that Snake vs. Monkey would be swapped out for something new exclusively on Xbox platforms.

In the trailer for the release date of the Xbox Series X/S version of Metal Gear Solid: Delta Snake Eater, the final image shown was that of Bomberman. Since Bomberman is a character from Konami, there are no copyright issues when he appears in Metal Gear games.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m curious about the Bomberman minigame: Is it going to be a fresh take on the classic Snake vs. Monkey game, with the monkeys replaced by Bombermans, or is it an all-together different kind of challenge?
There might be an additional mini-game featuring Bomberman, where Big Boss may need to stealthily maneuver around and avoid being blown up. This could offer a humorous twist on the classic scenario, with players tasked not with hunting mascots, but rather with evading them instead.
Regardless of the situation, it’s reassuring to know that Xbox gamers won’t be overlooked this time. Having Bomberman instead of the empty space once occupied by Snake vs. Monkey mini-game is definitely a welcome improvement.
