Metaphor: ReFantazio - All Dragonthistle Berry Locations (Soldier's Solace)

As a seasoned gamer with years of questing under my belt, I can confidently say that Metaphor: ReFantazio has been a rollercoaster ride so far, but the Soldier’s Solace quest is one that truly stands out. The linear path to find those elusive Dragonthistle Berries in Gracia Forest was reminiscent of my days as a woodsman, tracking down rare creatures for their pelts.

Following an extended narrative phase, players gain access to the charming seaport town of Port Brilehaven, where they can savor the invigorating sea air. There are numerous optional missions and contracts available for collection. Moreover, a rare book titled “The Future of Magic” can be obtained by conversing with Julian at the Angler’s Inn Square, but be aware that it is possible to miss this item if not sought out deliberately.

As a dedicated fan, here’s my take on paraphrasing that quest description in an engaging first-person narrative:

This side quest doesn’t have a set deadline, giving players the flexibility to prioritize other urgent quests and revisit this one at their convenience.

How To Start Soldier’s Solace In Metaphor: ReFantazio

In Angler’s Inn Square near The Spider’s Den is the Exhausted Woman who needs to make some medicine ,but she is missing a key ingredient: Dragonthistle Berry. This can be acquired in the Gracia Forest northwest of Port Brilehaven. Go to the Gauntlet Runner and chart a court.

Engaging in both the “Deeds and Diversions” side quest and the exploration of the Forsaken Tower from Gracia Forest during your leisure time is highly advantageous, as it allows for a productive use of available spare days.

Be ready for a few fights, as other Gauntlet Runners will come your way.

Dragonthistle Berry Locations In Gracia Forest

As you enter the forest, your map will highlight the location of the seven Dragonthistle Berries you’re seeking (as indicated in the picture provided above). The path through the forest is relatively straightforward, so follow it and gather any items that catch your eye during your journey. You’ll come across a Golden Beetle near the northeastern part of the forest. Once you’ve collected all the berries, prepare for a battle with Kokasados.

  • Protagonist – Cleric/Gunner
  • Strohl – Pugilist/ Gunner
  • Hulkenberg – Magic Knight
  • Heismay – Gunner/Assassin

In the game, Kokasados is a level 35 boss who can harm your entire team with Wind-based attacks and may cause the Poison status effect. This boss also shields against Wind damage, so it’s wise not to squander your turn on ineffective attacks against it. However, Kokasados has a weakness for Physical Pierce attacks, making characters with Gunner Archetype particularly effective in this fight. When conversing with NPCs within the Gracia Forest, they advise fighting the boss from a distance. Given this advice, you should adjust your formation and position all of your party members in the Back Row to attack from afar.

To ensure a swift victory against the boss due to its potentially lethal single-target attack, focus on employing Pierce Attacks every round against party members for approximately seven to eight turns before it strikes back. It’s crucial to wrap up the battle promptly, since waiting too long could result in the boss utilizing its deadly move. To better withstand this attack, use either Rakukaja or Marakukaja, defensive abilities that will boost your party members’ defense.

Once you’ve vanquished the boss, make your way back to the Tired Woman. There, you can present her with the berries. After speaking with her, the quest will be successfully concluded, granting you the reward of Dragonblood Sap and 30,000 Reeve (45,000 if you’ve boosted Catherina’s bond).
