He will reward you with gear depending on how many Gold Beetles you give him. The final item is obtained after delivering 46 Gold Beetles.
Subsequently, every extra beetle you encounter will grant you a valuable consumable known as Arcane Dragonblood, widely considered the top item in the game due to its ability to fully restore the MP of the entire party.
